Outside & Inside; We Do Both

Bright and early Paul headed for the market to shop before Sue awoke.  He made a pass by the BB&B (Bed Bath & Beyond) to get another Bulova wall clock that lights up at night!  After Sue woke up, Paul headed to the kitchen and his new position as “Chief Cook and Bottle Washer!”

Sue laid back down to the rest and Paul hit the yard with the clippers and finished off the pomegranate tree plus he cleaned out the artichoke leaves and fertilized the avocado tree.

Potatoes (front), artichokes (fountain plant) and trimmed pomegranate tree in the back

We keep potatoes growing year around.  It’s easy to figure out when they are ready because the nice leaves and stems die and turn brown… When it looks dead, the potatoes are ready to pick!

We get 5-10 fingerling potatoes from beneath the surface of the soil with every plant

The pomegranate tree looks a little naked but it needed to be trimmed and the tips taken off the ends to force grown and fruiting farther into the plant!

“Don’t look… I’m naked”

Late in the afternoon we got ready for our weekly trip to Malarkeys (or, Malainey’s now).  We brought our own wine and had dinner.  Paul did the chiopinno while Irene and Sue had a veggie pizza!  Sue ate up a storm!

It was 58 degrees outside! Sue stayed warm!

The rains are supposed to be coming but no evidence at 5:25 PM… However, at 7:00 PM the rains came for several minutes.  We departed at 7:30 PM and headed to the Ward’s to pick up some home made split-pea soup.  Thanks to Terri, we are staying stuffed!

Not a spectacular sunset but interesting… We could see rain showers in the distance.

We got home and watched a Hallmark’s Valentines Day movie.

Summary: Helen works in a flower shop and her best friend Henry at the botanical gardens. At a masquerade gala, she thinks a masked man is Henry but he?s actually off working. Enchanted by the dashing stranger, Helen is disappointed when he abruptly races off, dropping his rose boutonniere. Love-struck, she recognizes the rose, finds the buyer and they begin dating, until Helen finds out he has plans to turn the botanical gardens into condos. Meanwhile, Henry takes off, sure that Helen loves another man. He?s always wanted more than friendship, but when Helen finally admits she does too, Henry is already gone. Finding solace in her work, Helen is asked to deliver flowers to someone and is met with the most romantic surprise of her life.

Cute movie!

We crashed early this evening… 11:00 PM is all we could do!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
