Another Quiet Day At The Homestead!

Life is good… The ol’ scale indicated 197.9 this  morning.  Paul can see 190 in the headlights!  Haven’t been this low in weight in 40 years!  Feels pretty derned good!

Paul got up extra early while Sue was still asleep and did a Ralph’s Market run getting a dozen eggs, several new veggie dishes, and other necessities including more drinks for Sue.  He then popped over to BB&B and got some pillow cases and pillows plus an electric blanked that may be better for Sue while she watches TV.

Paul fixed scrambled eggs with fresh veggies  in them… Sue actually thought it was good!  Win one for the Gipper!  After lunch, Sue crashed again and slept until 6:00 PM when Paul got her up and readies for dinner!

While Sue was zonked, Paul trimmed the Pomegranate tree which was a nigger job than anticipated!  Those trees have big thorns on them and Paul found each and every one!

Wonderful fruit and nice looking tree

The name pomegranate derives from medieval Latin p?mum “apple” and gr?n?tum “seeded”. The number of seeds in a pomegranate can vary from 200 to about 1400.

Wanna know a secret?  After the pomegranate is opened by scoring it with a knife and breaking it open, the seeds are separated from the peel and internal white pulp membranes. Separating the seeds is easier in a bowl of water because the seeds sink and the inedible pulp floats. Freezing the entire fruit also makes it easier to separate. … No fuss… No muss!

He was tired and hungry so he sneaked out to Subway and had a small veggie sandwich!  The standard 6 inch Veggie Delight sub weighs 162g and has 230 calories with 2.5g of fat. The sub also has .5g saturated fat, no trans fat or cholesterol, and 410mg of sodium. There are 45g of carbohydrates, five of which are dietary fiber and five of which are sugar, and 9g of protein. The sub provides 8 percent of the daily value of vitamin A and 20 percent vitamin C as well as 4 percent calcium and 15 percent iron.

For dinner? Only Paul knows. While we want to go to Garden Grove Elks, we stayed home and stayed away from possible sources of the flu.  We watched some TV and then crashed!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
