Paul minor hernia finally decided to “open up” and swallow something bringing pain and discomfort. We went to the doc and she said better call a surgeon! We called the the receptionist of the recommended surgeon and she said “Please come see us! The earliest appointment is the third week in July 2017”. Ouch, decisions decisions.
Sue made the wise decision, to the Emergency Room we went. The took a look and we were off for a catscan to see if the herhia allowed some intestines to come through or not. We were lucky, it was not intestines but some the intestines sack material. They asked what we should do and it was obvious, it was time to operate and the pain was a real pain!
Paul stayed the night and out dear friend Irene came and took Sue out for dinner and a bit of wine. Sue stayed at the hospital until about 9:40 PM and then we called our neighbor, Vicky, to bring Sue home.
Did You Know: An umbilical hernia is a health condition where the abdominal wall behind the navel is damaged. It may cause the navel to bulge outwards—the bulge consisting of abdominal fat from the greater omentum or occasionally parts of the small intestine. The bulge can often be pressed back through the hole in the abdominal wall, and may “pop out” when coughing or otherwise acting to increase intra-abdominal pressure. Treatment is surgical, and surgery may performed for both cosmetic as well as health-related reasons.
All is well.. What will tomorrow bring?
