Gardening And Lillies!

Tuesday Paul went for a walk which was quite enjoyable. Join the walk.

Artichokes are going to be lunch in the next few days

After getting home, Paul worked in the garden watering and trimming the fruit trees. We decided we needed to ho to H&H Nursery to get some redwood bark and some herbs plus a few other veggies.

Did You Know? A common cause of root rot is lack of oxygen exposure, which can occur if the mulch is spread too close to the citrus tree’s trunk. To help eliminate the threat of root rot, spread the organic mulch at least six to 12 inches away from the citrus tree’s trunk. This prevents excessive moisture retention around the roots and allows for proper air circulation.

We has a huge selection of items to pick from although we did not find a single cantelope.  We did get two watermelons which ought ot be fun!

Paul’s trusty sidekick, Miss Sue, drove the cart and provide sage advice (Pun intended, we got two kids of sage). We bought Purpurascens and Tricolor sage for our garden.

Did You Know: In Britain, sage has for generations been listed as one of the essential herbs, along with parsley, rosemary and thyme (as in the folk song “Scarborough Fair”). It has a savory, slightly peppery flavor. It appears in many European cuisines, notably Italian, Balkan and Middle Eastern cookery. In Italian cuisine, it is an essential condiment for saltimbocca and other dishes, favored with fish. In British and American cooking, it is traditionally served as sage and onion stuffing, an accompaniment to roast turkey or chicken at Christmas or Thanksgiving Day. Other dishes include pork casserole, Sage Derby cheese and Lincolnshire sausages. Despite the common use of traditional and available herbs in French cuisine, sage never found favor there.

Paul asked Zack if he and his family would like to join us on Taco Tuesday and we had a ball. Laura and Noah joined in plus Marqueta and the grandkids and of course, Miss Lilly the great grandkid!

Laura told us the great news!  We are very happy!

Kicking back after a large Mexican meal…  Paul, as usual, stuffed himself and has to walk twice as far as usual.

Becca, Miss Lilly #1, and Paul went for a cart ride on the back nine!  We were looking for baby ducks but it was cool so they were huddled with their mommies in the bushes.  We did see six geese and of course Miss Lilly #2

After dinner, we headed home and watched some NCIS and Cheers before crashing.  Sue is doing a lot better and, in fact, we are planning a three-hole golf outing tomorrow late afternoon to get ready for playing golf on Thursday!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
