Off And Running!

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

On the mark, get set, Gooooooooo!  We headed to the gym to get our weekly atrocious pain administered with a smile and a “Just five more!”    Five more leg presses and I will lose another inch in height!  We rode our bikes for 30 minutes before entering the “machine room”.

Upon returning home, we went on an exploration of the refrigerator to see what might be there for breakfast/lunch.   Mary discovered some lamb pops, and I found half of a spinach and feta cheese stuffed steak, both from our Greek adventure last Thursday.   With a bit of assistance from Mr. Microwave and Mr. Air Fryer, we had a terrific meal.

We planned to work in the garden, but the current heatwave brought that idea to a screeching halt!  Here is the recipe in case you want to try it at home!

At 12:30 pm, we headed to Huntington Beach for a short visit with Dr. Braga to see how the implants are doing.  I expect the exam to take five minutes, followed by ten minutes to discuss gardening.   Mary prepared a care package for the good doctor.

Before departing, we sent flowers to Irene and Claudia from Avas Flowers.

The doctor’s appointment went well; the implants were successfully placed, and all looked well according to the X-rays and physical examination.

Since there is a Chico’s store next to the doctor’s office, we stopped there so Mary could browse, and she found some goodies.

We then decided to go to the American Legion for dinner since it was just eleven minutes away.  Located on Balboa Island, it was a cool place to spend the afternoon.

We shared a pastrami sandwich and a baked loaded potato!

The temperature was about 74 degrees on the water!

We returned via Highway 55 going North, and it was almost clear.  We made it home in about 18 minutes!

We visited Jeff and then found our way to the Swim Spa, where we enjoyed three cycles of nice warm water.  The sky was pretty clear, allowing us to see some stars.  This part of the evening is our “quiet time” to sit and contemplate tomorrow’s adventures.

We were wiped out, so after the Spa, we watched TV until about 11:00 pm before hitting the sack.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
