We Got Educated!!

We should put an end to this routine! We had our coffee at 6:30 am and then proceeded to work in the backyard, pulling weeds, trimming dead plants, and organizing the potting bench until 10:00 am. The garden looks stunning now, and even the transplanted beets appear to be thriving.

Carefully look at the tomato plant , it still have green ones ready to get ripe.  The indeterminate tomatoes seems to go on forever and probably would if I could afford a large greenhouse!

The tomatoes keep producing, and we will have them until November!

The beans are getting big, and we should start thinking about having them for dinner. The bean inside is bright pinkish red, hence the name Scarlet Runner Bean.  I turned to Mary and asked, “Where have you bean all my life?”

Too bad they turn brown when heat is applied!

As we walk the garden every morning, we talk.  I said to Mary this morning, “I want someone who will look at me the same way I look at chocolate cake!”  Then she bit me!

I responded with, “Forget the butterflies; I feel the entire zoo in my stomach when I’m with you!”

The beans are excellent in the art of hiding as the pod and the leaves are exactly the same color.  We will have to dig for these guys.

The Scarlet Runner Beans are looking great; tomorrow, we harvest them!

We still have cucumbers coming, and one particular bush has about fifteen blossoms on it; we will treat it with special care.

Another cucumber is about to come indoors.

At 3:00 pm, Domilita and her staff were scheduled to arrive. As a result, we decided to head out for a late lunch. I gave my old luggage to Domi, which was in great condition but had old-fashioned rollers. Since Mary and I will be traveling, she suggested that I buy new luggage so that she doesn’t appear to be traveling with a bum with old bags.

We planned to go to the club and invited James to join us. However, he informed us that Linda was having some health issues and was on her way to the hospital for a CT scan. We initially considered going to Newport, but eventually decided to stay closer to home.

We ended up at Aces Bar and Grille, where we knew several people. We ordered a flatbread to go with our glasses of wine, and we noticed a gentleman in a red chef’s shirt. We struck up a conversation with him, and it turned out to be quite amazing.

Flatbread pizza; guess which end is whos?

We played Bobby Darin for our friends using our iPhone App.

She is about to attack!

Here are three teachers from the local high school, teaching Mechanical Engineering, Photography, and Culinary Arts respectively from left to right. During our conversation, they mentioned that the school is reintroducing vocational training due to the lack of practical skills among students today. They believe that excessive reliance on computers has made the younger generation inept in areas that we used to learn as kids.

I took print, electric, and metal shops in junior high. Mary took sewing and home economics. We were surprised the schools in our area were making options for the kids.

We exchanged names/numbers and invited them over to see our garden.  We also bought their dinners this evening as they had to leave and go across the street for “Back To School Night”.

Three great teachers!

We were provided with the contact details of a woman who offers classes of this kind, and I suggested that Mary should contact her to explore the possibility of teaching the students about medical options, such as how to become a doctor. The only issue is that the students are teenagers! However, I believe that I could teach them a class on aerospace engineering and provide insight into what it’s like to work in this field.

While we were driving home, I thought to myself: You love flowers, but you cut them. You love animals, but you eat them. You tell me you love me, so now I’m scared!

We were there for a couple of hours, and it was quite an evening.  From there, we went home, watched some TV, and crashed.

While locking up the house and watering Scout, I went to the front yard and snapped a photo of our current house colors.  Green and orange is perfect for Halloween!  We love our LED house lighting system!

Spooky!!

I got my goodnight kiss from my amazing wife and slid off into a eight hour slumber.
