Day 16: News Outlets Are Horrible, Anything To Sell A “Paper”

We woke up in Los Angeles and checked the news, expecting to endure a typhoon all day, but alas, we only had a little rain.  Today’s “news outlets” are devices for making the ignorant more ignorant and the crazy crazier.

We passed the breakwater at 5:30 am!

The headline read, “Tropical Storm Hilary threatens to flood California amid a state of emergency.” However, there was very little rain and no wind.

The captain earned his money this morning by flawlessly maneuvering the massive ship into the dock.

That’s the Captian on the bridge using the port control system.

We passed the USS IOWA which in its day was a large ship!

We went through immigration upon docking; the Elite class passengers relaxed in a special lounge before reboarding. 1/3 of passengers disembarked, leaving 2,000 on board.

We checked our swimwear and realized we only had ten suits for both of us. Therefore, we had to us at least two suits before packing up. We went to the spa and enjoyed the hot tub even though it was raining outside.

“Watcha doing sailor??”

After using the hot tub, we went back to the cabin, packed up most of our belongings, took a nap, and got ready to celebrate the 30th anniversary of some new friends at the Grille.

We returned to the Grille and enjoyed delicious steaks – Mary had the Filet Mignon while I had a 16 oz New York Strip!

I am such a bad cook; I use the smoke alarm as a timer.

Recipes always confuse me. The recipe said, “Set the oven to 180 degrees,” so I did, but now I can’t open it because the door faces the wall.

Yeah, thirty years!

During dinner, my iPhone beeped, and it was the photographer notifying us we had additional pictures to download.

We danced a little before returning to the cabin to finish packing. I placed Mary’s five suitcases outside first, followed by my one gunnysack. We went to bed early so we could wake up at 7:00 am.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
