The Year Is Half Over; Christmas Is On It’s Way!

Amen!!

Today we slowed down!  Instead of going outside, we went upstairs, where Mary decorated the July 4th tree, and I put together a portable cart for our 50″ upstairs ballroom TV.  The cart is such that it will roll the TV, including the DVD/CD/BlueRay devices, into the closet to be hidden until we need it.

Decorated; ready for patriotic songs.

We procured a set of electronic lights that change colors for every holiday.  Red, shite, and blue now, but in a month, we can make orange twinkling lights for Halloween.  It makes decorating the tree much easier than restring it every month!

Why are pianists’ fingers like lightning?  Answer: They rarely strike the same place twice.

We changed the lighting to be red, white, blue, and twinkle.  Let freedom ring!

Mary went through all the stands and found old piano teaching books her kids used.  We plan to take lessons in another month, but we can begin with these instruction books next week.

After some adjustments, our upstairs “ballroom” was looking good.  We only go up there every few days.

I remember going to a fine hotel many years ago, and I got into the elevator and said to the elevator operator, “Ballroom, please!” The lady next to me said, “Oh!  I’m so sorry; I didn’t realize I was crowding you!”.

A straightened up!

The view from the ballroom is super, as we can see the garden, the gazebo, and the school behind our property.  The pool is 80 degrees, so we may call Joe and see if the boys want to come over and dive in and swim!

It was a fantastic day!

Carlos called, and he has found a 15-gallon grapefruit tree to put into our pot, where we moved the lemon-limey from.  We are going to bring it over on Wednesday the 5th.  This is our newborn’s baby picture.

What do you get when you cross a cat and a grapefruit?  A sour puss.

Our new tree is on its way!

Robin and Bob came over for movie night, and we decided to have dinner outside on the patio, where it was warm, but there was a delightful breeze (as evidenced by the wind socks).  I had my alcohol-free beer.

We had a wonderful meal, and the lasagne was outstanding; I went for two helpings even though I was approaching 192 pounds earlier in the day!

There is a serious problem with lasagna!  What do you get when you stack two lasagnas on top of each other? One lasagna.

Dinner was perfect sitting outside on the middle patio!

Bruschetta is healthy as it has all the fresh ingredients.  And it is equally tasty.  We are getting the handle on how to make the bread; lightly brush on olive oil and then broil the bread for 5 minutes.

The bruschetta was a big hit.

Time for a garden tour!  We walked the entire garden and collected some veggies to go!

The garden tour ended up by the garage!

It is “Movie Night” and Mission Impossible is on the menu.  We shuggled up in the new theater chairs and watched on the big TV in the TV Room.

Ethan Hunt and his IMF team, along with some familiar allies, race against time after a mission gone wrong.  It was exciting and a load of action; we were tried after watching it!

Movie night gets underway!

Mary wanted the best seat in the house, so I offered her my lap! Can’t you tell by my grin??

I said, “Why don’t you sit on my lap, and we’ll talk about the first thing that pops up?”  Mary replied, without hesitation, “No thanks, I don’t like small talk.”

Best seat in the house!

Tom Cruise was shooting everything and blowing everything up while we sat and enjoyed the dessert that Robin made for us.   It sounded like the 4th of July was already here!

Bob was the only person that stayed awake the entire time; I was in and out and noticed the ladies dozing off.  It was fun!!

Foot’s eye view!

We loaded the dishwasher and went to bed; Mary crashed first while I worked on the daily diary.  It was a wonderful day, and we have the 4th of July planned out.

About Paul
