No rain this morning; a seismic change must have occurred. However, it was cold, so we had our coffee before galloping through the garden. The garden looked quite lovely, and we gave it a final touch by removing a few weeds and trimming the dead leaves on the onions, tomatoes, and garlic.
Then it came to me! What do you call a woman who puts her credit card statements straight in the fire? Bernadette.
The firepit is just right, providing heat not only to us but to the cups of coffee.
Using my thermometer, I checked my internal temperature and is was 104 degrees so it was time to get up and walk!
Scout enjoys the mornings with Mom and Dad! He also was getting hot, and we worried whether or not he had a fever. What do you give a dog with a fever? Mustard! Its the best thing for a hot dog.
After the veggie garden meander, we went to the flower garden along the west wall and spotted the roses, which looked fascinating. Mother Nature is quite an artist!
Returning to the patio, we continued the morning conversation after stopping at the “Fruit Salad Tree”. We spotted a peach (or Nectarine) that must be picked in the next few days. Next year this tree ought to be amazing.
Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s off to work we go. Mary deadheaded a mess of flowers while I worked on the hose reels and made plans for Carlos’s visit. We are going to move the lemon-limey tree to a new home and I plan to split the large veggie bed into two watering zones.
Mary now pays strict attention to what she is cutting after this morning. I came out of the garage when I heard her scream! Oops!!
She had two loads of cuttings that we moved to the green trash can before the trash man came by. We pulled some strawberries from the verticle garden as they were done for the season. Tomorrow we will visit the Orange County Farm Supply, which has many interesting veggie selections.
In the front yard, there is a weeding to do. The weeds are behind the rose bushes and next to the front wall; they are difficult to get to! These guys were scrawny, skinny, slender, slim, spare, thin, twiggy.
Mary found out we had a tall Foxglove plant with magnificent flowers to show everyone. BTW, these are very toxic plants, so we keep our distance.
Did You Know? The name “foxglove” was first recorded in the year 1542 by Leonhard Fuchs, whose family name, Fuchs, is the German word for “fox” (the plant genus Fuchsia is also named for him).
The genus “Digitalis” is from the Latin digitus (finger), perhaps referencing the shape of the flowers, which accommodate a finger when fully formed.
Foxgloves are native to Europe, the Mediterranean region, and the Canary Islands, and several species are cultivated for their attractive flower spikes.
She was caught in the act of making things beautiful! Mary and her little wheelbarrow kept busy! I worked in the garage attempting to find the top of the workbench! When she wears her jeans, I plan Dolly Pardon on the Alexa; she sings, and the neighborhood dogs bark!
She did not think it funny when I said, “You have the vocal range of a broken accordion.” As I turned to run away, a weed whizzed by my head, missing the cranium by mere micro-inches!
The lemon limey has a new home in the back of the yard. We kept its pot and will put a miniature grapefruit tree in it. This new location should allow her to keep growing and provide us with lime-flavored lemons, or is it lemon-flavored limes?
We went to the doctor at 1:00 pm for a 2:00 pm appointment, and he was one hour late. The news was great; there was no need to see him until September. The PSA was zero!
What’s a urologist’s favorite keyboard shortcut? Dug, Ctrl-P.
We stopped by Ralph’s to grab some goodies, including a roasted chicken for dinner. Mary made dinner, and I made dessert. We work together well!
We went into the swim spa for three cycles, and it felt so good! We keep it at 95 degrees so it is easy to get into. The jets do an excellent job of relieving gardening-induced aches and pains! It also helps with cardio because we really move fast when we get out on a cold evening!
Mary had never seen the “Nanny McPhee” movies, so we watched two and laughed. Summary: A governess uses magic to rein in the behavior of seven ne’er-do-well children in her charge.
By 9:00 pm, was had crashed; tomorrow would be another busy day!
