Wednesday means PT so The Silver Fox went on automatic as we wove our way to Tustin via the back streets. Mary faced another hour of exercise. While she was working hard, I went to the local coffee shop/burger joint and had my coffee, and read more of The Maze. Mary and I are now about ten pages apart.
We went to Home Depot on the way home and procured some additional flowers and three bags of amendment which I used in the front yard. The potting soil plus the peat moss makes the flower beds beg for more flowers to support. We got three more azelias plus several other colorful flowers.
If I had a single flower for every time I think about Mary, I could walk forever in my garden.
I added a load of peat moss to the planters. Peat moss is naturally sterile, creating a disease-free environment for starting seeds and cuttings. In the garden, you can mix peat moss with the soil to improve soil texture and moisture. The porous nature of peat moss means more air is in the soil, which improves plant growth.
I played in the dirt from about 11:00 am until 4:30 pm and only completed about 1/2 of the right-hand side flower bed. Thanks to the power auger, the work was not too bad. I wore heavy-duty gloves so my hands were clean but rather sweaty when I removed them!
I always gave 100% at when I was working at Boeing: 10% Monday, 23% Tuesday, 40% Wednesday, 22% Thursday, and 5% Friday.
Carlos was here today and he and his team put in the plumbing to better drain our rear patio plus make sure the flower beds adjacent to the master bedroom drain without water seeping into the house.
As Carlos departed around 5:00 pm I asked for him to install the border around the front garden. He did that in about ten minutes and it would have taken me an hour.
The red flowers are very engaging and easily seen from the street. We are going to add more colors over the next few days.
While I was planting two ladies stopped and admired the front yard. We got to talking and I invited Amy and Bonnie to see the vegetable garden. I called on Mary to join the tour. They were amazed at the size of the garden and seemed to enjoy the tour.
Back to digging!
The Azeleas are beautiful which reminds me we have to go to Huntington GArdens within the next few weeks. They have almost a half acre of Azeelias.
Next year we are buying encore azaleas. Encore Azaleas flower in spring, summer, and fall. Traditional azaleas are finished after their spring blooms, but Encore Azaleas continue to brighten landscapes with striking color and lush foliage, season after season.
The right-hand side is finished, three more hours to do the left-hand, and the front yard will be mostly done.
We traded the Easter Flag for the US Army Flag and it waves proudly over our home. we did not have a Mother’ Day flaf but BannerBuzz will help we take care of that!
We popped over to Jan’s after a quick dinner just to visit and have a glass of wine and a beer. She was doing great and we hope she joins us at the Elks Lodge tomorrow for lunch with the gang.
We watched a new series called The Night Agent. While monitoring an emergency line, a vigilant FBI agent answers a call that plunges him into a deadly conspiracy involving a mole at the White House.
We finally crashed at 10:00 pm and were out like a pair of lights! Tomorrow is Girls’ Night Out.
