Tradition; Coloring The Eggs!

We were busy today getting ready for the family’s landing at noon!  I moved tables and chairs and straightened up the garage before Joe saw the mess.  Mary removed the tablecloths from their storage locations and helped me set the tables.  We both made a list of things to get at Ralph’s before everyone arrived.

I made Ralph’s trip and came back with several bags of goodies.  We are ready!

We both love family!  Easter is an excellent time to get together!

Everyone arrived on time, so we went from zero to sixty in just a few minutes.  The first thing to do was a garden tour.  Everyone headed to the south forty for a walk around.  Mary and I took different groups.  They enjoyed the signage.

The Garden Tour continues with Theo, Amy, and yours truly!

Meanwhile, inside the house, Joe and Amy relax, knowing that food will fly everywhere.  Within a few minutes, the great chewing sounds will start.

Our son Joe and Amy relax before the feeding frenzy begins!

Joe flew the drone and recorded Irene and Paul walking the garden.  From this angle, you can see how big the garden is; it is not a tiny plot!

The Grill Whizard carefully approaches the kiln, says a few short chants, and plops the Bubba Burgers onto the red hot grill.  Smoke rises quickly, and within minutes several tribes of local Indians come to the door suggesting the person doing the smoke signals take some serious spelling lessons!  Zack’s response, “I said what?”

Zack is a man of many talents!

We cannot figure out how he does it, but his grilling skills are exceptional; the burgers (and hot dogs) were terrific!

Zack on the Grill that’s a good name for a restaurant!

After we dined, it was time to find the eggs and make magnificent colored eggs.  The little ones were off and running!

Everybody watches the little ones!

Lilly was on crutches, but that did not stop her!  She was all over the place.

Lilly is an excellent finder!

The boys are making believe they are not looking for eggs, but we know better!

The boys are “too old” for this, so what are they doing?

The coloring begins!  Paint flying everywhere.

Did You Know?  One of the earliest pieces of evidence of dyed eggs in British history goes back to 1290 when the household of Edward I bought 450 eggs to be colored or covered in gold leaf to be distributed among “the royal entourage” for Easter.

Get out the paints!

Scout heard the word “paint” and scampered into the other room, terrified!

“I refuse to be repainted this year!!”

We had a wonderful day with family!  After everyone departed, we went to Home Depot and got the fixings for the vertical veggie garden.

Remember: God gave you toes as a device for finding furniture in the dark.
