Fact: Live from New York … It’s Saturday Night! Chevy Chase first uttered that famous line on October 11th, 1975. The sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live would become one of the longest-running series of all time, with over 47 seasons as of 2022.
We got up at 6:00 AM and went into the swim spa! The temperature was already 77 degrees outside! From the spa, we went to the yard and worked for about two hours before the heat was unbearable.
How hot was it, you asked? The farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.
Joe called, and he, plus five teenagers, were headed in our direction at 11:00 AM. We decided pizza was for lunch; it was too hot to cook anything inside even though the house was 77 degrees.
Robin came over, and she and Mary worked on the table settings for the upcoming tea party. It looked pretty good!
I took a short nap before cleaning up and got ready to go to Campus JAX in Newport. We went with David and Dianne meeting them there at 5:30 PM for drinks and dinner.
We all had or tried the shrimp-stuffed avocado, which was excellent, and they used a little soy sauce in the mixture to give it a kick!
The restaurant specialized in Creole cooking, so when I spotted the spicy Jambalaya, I went for it. It was pretty good.
Did Youy Know? Creole cuisine (French: cuisine créole, Spanish: cocina criolla) is a style of cooking originating in Louisiana, United States, which blends West African, French, Spanish, and Amerindian influences,as well as influences from the general cuisine of the Southern United States.
Creole cuisine revolves around influences found in Louisiana from populations present in Louisiana before the sale of Louisiana to the United States in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803.
The term Creole describes the population of people in French colonial Louisiana which consisted of the descendants of the French and Spanish upper classes, and over the years the term grew to include native-born slaves of African descent as well as those of mixed racial ancestry.
I danced with Mary and Dianne, and the music was terrific! After the second dance, I asked Dianne, “What do you get when you play country music backward?” I could not figure out why she looked at me so funny, but I answered the question: “You get back your wife, your dog, and your truck.”
We were not on the floor, but you can listen to what we were hearing while dancing.
We stayed until a little past 9:00 PM and then headed home. After getting home, we were going to sit on the patio and watch the moon, but Mary fell asleep, and so did I, on the patio!
Tomorrow it is going to be hot!
