Fact: Mardi Gras is more than just a day, it’s an entire season. Carnival season begins on Twelfth Night (January 6) and ends on Fat Tuesday (It’s called Fat Tuesday because it’s the last day that many people eat meat and fatty foods before Lent begins. ). It’s during this time period that king cakes make their debut – and fly off the shelves all season long.
We worked around the house all morning getting Easter ready to put up and preparing for the rainstorm which we expect tomorrow. Everything was covered and battened down for the winds that are expected.
We got cleaned up and did a fly-by at Jan’s on our way to Fullerton.
At the Elks, we had a special table out of the way of the main speakers.

We are ready to dance the night away!
Beverly and George are fun to be with!

George and Beverly were at the table with us.
We walked through the silent auction items. There were 86 items on auction tonight. We bid on thee items but did not have any luck!

We found a fellow reveler to take our picture.
There were two bands, one in each of the large rooms at the Elks. The Marti Gras was a fundraiser for music education. They sounded fantastic and they brought several singers along.

The band was form Fullerton College and they were good!
The parade got underway just before dinner. Many of the ladies and a few of the guys joined the parade as it wound its way through both rooms. The Chinese Dragon joined the parade; fun for all.

The parade happened just before dinner.
The end is approaching and Mary will follow the parade.

Mary waited for the last of the parade folks to come through the door.
She did it! Several older gentlemen passed out. I was going to join Mary but I would look like something that had gotten loose from Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

She sashayed down the middle of the dance floor!
We danced until 9:00 PM and then headed home to visit Scout, The Wonder Dog!

He was dancing up a storm!
