Hump Day!

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes

Fun Fact: The small intestine is bigger than the large intestine. The human body is pretty weird. The small intestine measures 20 ft long and 1″ in diameter. Meanwhile, the large intestine is 5 ft long and 3″ in diameter. Essentially, the small intestine is larger than the large intestine.

We woke to the sound of the neighborhood rooster; his name is windy! OK, it is not a rooster, but the sounds of the Santa Ana winds blowing through the local canyons.

We stayed inside and awaited our glass company to take one of the mirrored doors back. They were too wide, and I could not get to my shirts! We have to depart by 11:00 AM as we are meeting Robin and Vicky for lunch at Yucatan Grill.

We are having four days of the high 80s!

We slipped away at 11:05 AM, and GPS stated it would take 21 minutes. That makes it easy to have lunch in the old hood. I love the El Diablo shrimp; burn baby burn. We got there early and visited with the waiter for a while.

We got there early!

The girls arrived at noon, and they conversed about Robin’s run-in with COVID while vacationing in Hawaii.

Yes, we do have SERIOUS conversations.

Soon the conversation turned to funny things; our table was a pile of giggles! Vicky spoke Spanish to our waiter, and he kept looking at me with a big smile on his face. I wonder what she said; at least he did not escort me out or put me at another table.

I mentioned to Vicky, “All Mexican chefs live their lives only by seasoning the moment.” I could NOT resist and told the girls, “Beautiful ladies who love eating Mexican food are known as Taco Belles.”

We love visiting with our daughter and Vicky, Paul’s neighbor of 30 years. They are amazing besides being a load of fun.

All smiles!

We got a shot of ourselves, thanks to Vicky! Usually, we miss getting pictures of us out and about.

We hugged a lot; we were not in a hurry.

After the girls departed, one going to work and one picking up the grandsons, we continued our chowing down.   We had an appointment at 2:30 PM for physical therapy, and we did not have sufficient to drive all the way home.

Mary had the halibut special. I warned her, “You should go easy on burritos that are badly constructed because they get a bad wrap.”

So cute!

We laughed a lot, and I caught Mary with the video camera; too funny. She was worried about her hair, and I thought to myself, “Her hair was windblown, and I am lucky my hair didn’t blow away!”

We departed and went to physical therapy, and I needed it as my leg was giving me fits today. After the workout, it was doing pretty well.

We had errands to run, so we stopped at Ralph’s on the way back as well as the UPS store to return my Bose headphones. We also popped by the bank to get some money.

Returning home, we had a small diner of beef stroganoff from yesterday. We pulled out the readers and read for a few hours. We are reading a book by Lisa Scottoline, and it was so funny I nearly wet myself.

We crashed about 9:00 PM, and I woke up around 3:00 AM and started reading again. I had to cover my mouth to keep from waking Mary up, and I was in the family room.

A fabulous read!

Did You Know? Born in the Lower Moyamensing neighborhood of Philadelphia, Scottoline attended Lower Merion High School and then went on to earn a B.A. in English magna cum laude (in three years) from the University of Pennsylvania, then graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She clerked for judges at the state and federal appellate courts and later became a litigator at Dechert in Philadelphia. After the birth of her daughter, she left the law firm and started writing. Final Appeal received an Edgar Award for excellence in crime fiction. She has since written 30 bestselling novels, including Look Again and Don’t Go, both of which reached number two on The New York Times Best Seller list. She has served as President of the Mystery Writers of America and won many other honors. Her novels have been translated into 30 languages, and she has 30 million copies in print.

I plan to call Colleen tomorrow morning and have he read this book; it is just too funny to pass up!

Yes, Paul is THAT old!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
