Today Was Wild! Contractors Coming Our Our Ears!

Why don’t witches ride their brooms when they’re angry? They’re afraid of flying off the handle!

We were up at 5:00 AM!  Yes, we woke up the roosters!  Why?  Miss Mary had to be at Denny’s in Huntington Beach at 7:00 AM to introduce her “replacement” in the Women’s Business Group.  Mary is leaving the group soon, and she wanted her replacement to be represented in the group.  So, a personal introduction was called for!

Me?  I was assigned to home duty this morning because we had contractors here all day!  First came the mason who will rebuild the fireplace/hearth, then the electrician, and finally the garage door opener wizard!

I used my time to send out the invites for pumpkin carving last night.  Now we will count the spooks that will be joining us this year!

Jack ‘O Lantern In Cemetery In Spooky Night With Full Moon

While I was working in the office, I got an email from Colleen, and she included a movie about Mary and I dancing at a recent party!   We looked pretty good, considering everything!  Thank you, Colleen, for the excellent video!

After opening up the wall, we found the flippers put plaster over the brick, which had to be taken down, piece by piece.  The stack stone will be cemented to the old brick.  We choose not to go with a veneer but opted for a manually stacked and individually laid set of stones. Mica is usually what makes the granite stones look beautiful by giving off a reflective three-dimensional appearance that sparkles.

The work begins!

Our electrician joined us at about 9:30 AM, and we traced the short to the circuit which lights the walkway lights.  So now, I will troubleshoot that and attempt to find the specific point of the problem.  Perhaps I can run another wire.  I will call Joe to provide advice and see if he has a camera system.

Then we were off to “Girls Night Out,” where our waitress for the past 18 months was on vacation, an Elk Cruise up the coast.  We had a delicious meal with me doing in a swordfish and Mary enjoying a salad and cup of soup!

We had a new waiter!

Bill was talking about investments, and his eyes get glued to the TV.

Bill was watching the stock market.

We returned home to find a lot of progress being made.  The old plaster is being shipped off piece by piece, and the fireplace will be placed by stack stone using amazing granite from Idaho.

You know that Stonemasons take their work for granite.  Their work is genuinely marblelous.  I mentioned to him if he knew the tile mason who was terrible at his job. He couldn’t get the right tile to use, and if he did, he could not lay it the correct way.  He had erect tile dysfunction.

We are chipping away at the fireplace.

Robin joined us for dinner and a sleepover.   Mary had made soup, and we added a salad and dined on the patio under the heat of the heat lamp.

Dinner time

The laughter and giggling went on for an hour.  Great fun!

Chomp!

Poppy was pooped tonight because I was up at 1:00 AM Tuesday to see Colleen off and then up at 4:00 AM yesterday to get Mary off to work by 6:00 AM!

Enjoying life

We went over plans for pumpkin carving and it looks like the Linds are in along with the Duda’s plus the Chartier’s so far.  We await answers from the northern OC contingent (Irene, Vicky, and Greg) plus the La Mirada Liles’.

Mary is excited about our second annuals pumpkin carving party!

We had dessert and crashed at 9:30 PM.  I was asleep before my head hit the pillow and stayed comatose until 3:00 AM when mother nature called!
