The Weekend Has Arrived!

Early to bed, first to rise, makes people suspicious!

We retired 12 years, seven months, and 26 days ago today, but who is counting? When I awoke, the outside temperature was 49 degrees. Mom would have said, “Colder than a well diggers butt!”.

If not, smile anyway!

Today was slow, so I did some cleanup in the garage and finalized some arrangements for the Christmas season.  When I tried to move the Grey Lady, she would not budge.  I must have left something on last time she was out for a spin.  So the trusty battery charger ran for an hour, and she started right up.  The Lady and I did a grand tour of our local freeways entering on Katella on the 605 and exiting Seal Beach Blvd off the 405.  I am sure it blew all the cobwebs out of her!

Sue did a walk up and down the street using the walker and she did pretty well for the first time out.  We are going to repeat this twice a day until she gets back to herself.

No, it’s really true!

We did Indian and Chinese again for lunch, certainly an interesting combination!  We get 3 to 4 meals out of our visit to Panda Inn or the Himalayan Grill.  This time I asked the chef to change out the meat to lamb so I had Chili Lamb Tikka.

Did You Know? The word ‘tikka’ has two main meanings in India. The first meaning is connected with Indian cuisine and comes from Punjab, in the North of India. It means pieces of meat or vegetables marinated and then baked in a tandoor oven on a big iron skewer. Tikka is also a mark worn on the forehead by Hindu Indians.

For years I have wanted to dine at Rothchild’s in Corona Del Mar and today, I made the reservations.  We will go there ahead of the Night of 10,000 lights at Sherman Gardens.  We are excited.  The Zaitz and Duda’s will be going with us.

Our stove repairman returned with some additional parts and now, we have a brand new stove.  While the exterior is the same, his guts are brand new.  We told him that our son-in-law, Mitch, gets the stove when we croak.  Actually,  it’s in our will!

We talked on the batphone to Robin doing some Christmas cooridnation.

Late in the evening we turned to TV and watched three episodes of JAG plus some other favorites.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
