We Didn’t Leave The House Today!

With the rise of self-driving vehicles, it’s only a matter of time before we get a country song where a guy’s truck leaves him too.

I attempted to go for a walk but about 40 minutes into the walk my sciatic nerve on the left side started acting up. I limped home and rested for a while. It’s quite painful but I got about two miles in so that was OK

Did You Know? The sciatic nerve (also called ischiadic nerve, ischiatic nerve) is a large nerve in humans and other animals. It begins in the lower back and runs through the buttock and down the lower limb. It is the longest and widest single nerve in the human body, going from the top of the leg to the foot on the posterior aspect.

The sciatic nerve provides the connection to the nervous system for nearly the whole of the skin of the leg, the muscles of the back of the thigh, and those of the leg and foot. It is derived from spinal nerves L4 to S3. It contains fibers from both the anterior and posterior divisions of the lumbosacral plexus.

Ouch!

We stayed home and did chores. I had a bunch of work to do in the front yard and Sue attended to the asparagus. We had a normal lunch about 10:30 AM and then back to the front yard where I pulled weeds, transplanted some tomatoes, move some PVC pipe around, and cleaned up six cases of water that we keep for emergencies…apparently the rain came in at a new angle and wet the boxes, the boxes collapsed dropping 24 bottles per box onto the ground, and their were six boxes… 150 bottles took a tumble!

24/case…fall down go boom!

We got an Amazon delivery today…it consisted of another jigsaw puzzle, a large senior citizen phone, some test leads , and some vitamins. Amazon carries everything! It’s so easy just to use Amazon! We places 243 orders in 2018 according to their tally.

We plan a trip in the near future to Stockton where we are going to replace my Aunt phone with one she can use. She has a small tiny one with a thousand options and the answering machine always gets filled up and she can’t empty it… The one below has no recorder and simply does what a phone used to do!

Random Memories:  Mom also had a problem with the phone as she got older.  She would dial the phone fast and often, the phone would give her an error message.  The recording would say “Sorry, you have reached a number that does not exist…please hang up and try again”.  WELL, Mom would get so mad the phone would go bounding across the room.  Sometimes Mom would finally get through to us and complain about …”that damned woman on my phone tells me I misdialed… I’d like to punch her… who is she?”

Mom & Aunt Kaye… It’s not that funny!

We watched movies in the afternoon and then started a new puzzle…this one is NOT easy! I worked on the purple pants for an hour while Sue collected look-alike pieces into small piles! Definitely NOT easy!

Bad news… I checked my Email at Don Bailey passed about 2:33 PM at home peacefully. Don and Marilyn have been good friends for years dancing at Starlighters. RIP Don! Don was just 80, kinda scary as he was only six years older than me.

We Alexa’d the Chartier’s and then Crazy Greg to catch up on the weeks events. Lisa is going to begin to swap her puzzles with us and visa-versa…a good thing.

We watched some TV (Eureka), did our tookies (which I did NOT burn this evening) and hit the sack at 11:00 PM. It’s been a mix today…we are sad about Don.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
