Day Of Cooking, Gardening, And Dancing!

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Paul was out in the garden at 7:00 picking and grinnin’…OK, just picking!  PAul brought in green beans, carrots, beets, several kinds of squash, Swiss chard, and squash blossoms.  We split up the bounty and dropped off some with the Ward’s before firing up the oven!  Then the work began!  From 9:00 until almost four, we cleaned, diced, sliced, cooked, created, and made enough food for an army…. Let’s see:

  • Kale Chips
  • Cauliflower Soup
  • Cauliflower Gratin/Casserole
  • Beets Tops
  • Swiss Chard
  • Pickled Beets

We finally got done and sat for a nice glass of wine before hitting the showers.  Our feet really hurt… Seven hours of standing in the kitchen will tend to do that to you!  We must say that working the garden and then working in the kitchen for hours creating food that we immediately consume is rewarding on many levels.  The time together, working as a team, and the benefits of knowing what we eat are simply great!

We stopped by Old Ranch for a quick visit and a drink.  We ran into JR and Karen and they were treating their prom-going grand-kids and their dates  to dinner on the patio!  What was nice is that all the teens were died in the wool conservatives!  Yeah JR and Karen!

We went to Garden Grove and met up with the Zaitz, Roberts, Mike and Irene and danced until 10:30… We had a full day!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
