Work And Play… That’s OK!

We worked around the house cleaning out the summer garden and cooking up a mess of stuffed peppers.

We had tickets for the DooWop show at Cerritos and we decided to go to Preveza for some Saganaki and a glass of wine.

Saganaki  refers to various dishes prepared in Greek cuisine and is named after the single-serving frying pan in which it is cooked.

One popular example is an appetizer of pan-seared cheese. The cheese used in saganaki cheese is usually kefalograviera, kasseri, kefalotyri, or sheep’s milk feta cheese. Regional variations include the use of formaella cheese in Arachova and halloumi cheese in Cyprus. The cheese is melted in a small frying pan until it is bubbling and generally served with lemon juice and pepper. It is eaten with bread.

Excellent appetizer!

Other dishes that are traditionally cooked in the pan include shrimp saganaki  and mussels saganaki, which are typically feta-based and include a spicy tomato sauce.

The greatest music ever!

Enjoy A Night of Doo-Wop with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group The Legendary Teenagers (Why Do Fools Fall in Love) and Lewis Lymon (I’m So Happy and Your Last Chance). Also performing are Terry Johnson’s Flamingos (I Only Have Eyes for You, Lovers Never Say Goodbye, and Love Walked In); Jimmy Gallagher & The Passions (Just to Be With You and Gloria); and Jimmy Clanton (Just a Dream, A Letter to an Angel, and Venus in Blue Jeans). The Olympics (Dance by the Light of the Moon) and The Royals complete the lineup.
