Mix Up Day!

Fact: Bell peppers are fruit!  Surprised?  Scientists define fruit as the part of a plant that develops from a flower and has seeds.  So that means bell peppers — along with squash, cucumbers, and pumpkins — are fruits.  It’s up to you whether or not to include any of those items in your next fruit salad.

We were up early because the Home Comfort folks were due in at 8:00 AM to install a “runway” across the top of the attic so we could walk from one end of the hose to the other without disturbing the insulation.  A father and son team came at about 8:30 AM and worked for four hours.

Now it is easy to walk from one end of the attic to the other!

I was supposed to get an MRI today, but a screw-up in the paperwork undid the plans.  We spent an hour on the phone trying to unscrew the mess; we may know tomorrow.

We went to the gym at 4:00 PM and worked out for an hour.  We were happy it was air-conditioned because outside, it was in the mid-90s.

On the way home, we stopped at Ralphs market and got a few things we needed, including another watermelon.

A dangerous, record-breaking heat wave is expected to develop over Southern California over the next several days, prompting Excessive Heat Warnings for millions of people.

Temperatures will top 100 degrees in Los Angeles County and reach 112 degrees inland.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning from 11 AM.  Wednesday until 8 PM Monday for areas including the San Fernando Valley, the San Gabriel Valley, Orange County, San Bernardino County, the Santa Clarita Valley, and many other mountains and valleys as a sustained, high-pressure system lingers over Southern California.

We called friends and told them to head in our direction if it gets too hot; the pool will be open the entire weekend for anyone who needs to cool down!

We watched “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” on Prime and finished the first seven episodes; I have Mary hooked on the series.  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Midge Maisel was inspired by the famous comedian and actress Joan Rivers.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
