Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Fact: The Interstate Highway System stretches 47,622 miles and includes 10 transcontinental routes varying from 18 miles to 3,000 miles.

  • Longest: I-90, 3,085.3 miles (Seattle to Boston)

We were up by 7 AM this morning and worked in the office for a while just passing time until we were going to leave for banning. We departed our house at 10 AM and stop by the market to get some goodies for Annie and Virgil. We arrived in banning at about 11:15 AM and get a good our chance to visit with them.

They are looking pretty good for being in their mid 90s.

Mary has been friends with them for many many years and now we go out to visit them every couple weeks as their health is beginning to deteriorate. Very nice people and I enjoy the visit along with Mary.

Friends for twenty+ years!

They showed us the cactus that Mary gave them almost three years ago. It blooms with beautiful blossoms about every six months and we happen to be there at the time it was blooming.

Mary gave Annie this cactus about three years ago and it blooms all the time but with teeny tiny flowers.

We left for home around 1 o’clock and traffic was not bad at all for the time of the afternoon. We came down the five to the 60 to the 91 to the 55 and then a few blocks east and we were home. GPS says that the trip is 60 miles each way and we generally make it within an hour.

There was a wind warning in effect and we could tell by simply looking at our flag. The Easter flag was flying beautifully this afternoon. That flag is very heavy since it has two sides with different text and images on each.

The flags were really flying by the time we got home.

Mary fixed a small snack for us to have and then we headed over to Jan’s house to visit for a while. I mentioned to Jan that I was going to buy a large marble table so I can begin to make bread. Mine broke in the move and then when I got to replace it it’s now on the formal dining room table. Well, as it happens, Jan had a beautiful white and gray marble pad which was perfect for our kitchen. I’m going to make some bread tomorrow or I might try the mushroom and sauerkraut pierogies, seems like an interesting recipe.

We did not go into the hot tub this evening because both of us were tired. Mary crashed 8 PM and I followed suit at around 9:30 PM.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
