Fact: Eukonkanto is a wife-carrying contest. Originating from 19th century Finland, this wife-carrying contest is exactly what it sounds like: Competitors race each other while carrying their spouses. Traditionally, the winner gets his wife’s weight in beer as a prize.
The cuckoo went off at 6:00 AM, followed immediately by the alarm clock! (I will pay for that one!)
We had to be at the gym at 8:15 AM! OMG, can I go in my jammies? Hey, at least I am not wearing my babydoll nighty this morning!
I rolled Scout out of bed and sent him to the south forty for his morning stretch. Since we planned to be gone for a while, I fed him breakfast. This morning he wanted a turkey sandwich and a hot cup of coffee. While Scout was outside, I was reading the local paper. I am beginning to worry!
7:45 AM, and we are off and running, going directly to our gym and Tustin. I consider my refusal to go to the gym today as resistance training! My muscles were rippling in anticipation of a vigorous workout by the time we got there. The distance between the car and the front door was thrilling!
We spent 45 minutes on the various torture devices. I remember once when I was captured and tortured by a mime, he did unspeakable things to me.
By 8:30 AM, we were done! Now it is off to Los Alamitos as Paul needed a blood test for next week’s physical.
I told Mary, “Once, a priest, a monk, and a rabbit went to a blood bank. After the blood test, the rabbit exclaimed, I think I am a type o”.
I cheated and studied for the blood test last night, so I am sure I passed with flying colors.
We went home via CVS and the gas station because we did not want Scout to be alone for too long a period.
Thursday; Girls Night Out; Here we come! I gave Iris a peek at the book she gave me two weeks ago, and there was a real surprise inside. Ask us what it was if you are interested!
Iris showed us a picture of herself taken in 1947. Wow, that would be an understatement!
Sydney was with us today, and after Mary gave her a hat, I could not resist setting the camera “back in time!”
Hal and Jeannie joined us this afternoon, and they are always a delight.
Mike and Linda were at Girls Night Out. Next week is St. Patrick’s day, and we hope Mike and Linda will bring their grandson! He is 18 and should have a good time with us.
Us, you ask! Well, of course! We provide adult supervision of the group.
We did a “meals on wheels” visit to Bill before coming home and settling in for the evening. It was cold, so we kicked on the heat and had a great dinner; a grilled cheese sandwich never tasted so good. I fixed some pickled cucumber slices, and we had a glass of wine while talking to Lisa & Pete.
We read for a while and decided we like our e-books!
The rest of the evening, we worked in the office for a while before hitting the sack and watching “Support Your Local Sherriff.”
