Friday Be Here; We Be Ready!

Fact: The cornea is one of only two parts of the human body without blood vessels – The cornea is the clear part of the eye that covers the pupil and other parts of the eye. Cartilage and the cornea are the only types of tissue in the human body that do not contain blood vessels, according to scientists at the Harvard Department of Ophthalmology’s Schepens Eye Research Institute. Your eye also has some other bizarre features you probably didn’t know about. Ask Mary; she knows!

We started the day working in the garden, and after three hours, we had the backyard back in shape. Mary cut the roses, and I dug out a pot infested with mint. We filled a 90-gallon trash can with greenery!

We enjoy our garden!

“The best way to garden is to put on a wide-brimmed straw hat and some old clothes. And with a hoe in one hand and a cold drink in the other, tell somebody else where to dig.”

We were worried about the Friday traffic, so we got ready really early. While getting ready, I looked at the iPhone, and it showed pictures of one year ago. Mary made me ride in the electric chair when we went to the market!

On my way to the dance

It took only 30 minutes to go from Orange to the dance studio two hours early. So we stopped at the tavern adjacent to the studio, killed off a bottle of wine, and had some snacks!

Just us!

There was a high-winds warning on the radio, and it said the winds would start at 5:00 PM. It was right on time. I got an alert from the security system that “someone was in the driveway.” It turned out to be a giant windbag.

The wind came right on time!

We had a little bit of food at the tavern; enough to wash the wine down! The Capps joined us later, and I introduced Bill to muscles and empanadas.

We had a snack

Did You Know? An empanada is a dish of Spanish cuisine, a baked or fried turnover consisting of pastry and filling, common in Spanish, other Southern European, Latin American, and the Philippine cultures. The name comes from the Spanish verb “empanar” and translates as “enbreaded,” that is, wrapped or coated in bread.

I enjoy a good empanada.

At 6:00 PM, we went next door to the dance studio, and the party was underway. Marcin is 40 years old! We advised him, “The older you get, the more you need to keep a fire extinguisher close to the cake.”

The birthday boy!

Oh, how true! We told Marcin, “For all the advances in medicine, there is still no cure for the common birthday.”

Yes indeed

More signs told the whole story!

It was a fantastic evening!

I am lucky to be married to such an amazing woman! We danced until 9:00 PM and then headed home to water the dog.

My girl!

We waited for the cake. Marcin and his family; looking good!

Happy Birthday, Marcin!

The wind was wild on the way home; the Silver Fox did well, but there was a lot of sideways motion in the cars ahead of us.
