Hello Thursday!

Fact: There aren’t “57 varieties” of Heinz ketchup, and never were. Company founder H.J. Heinz thought his product should have a number, and he liked 57. Hint: Hit the glass bottle on the “57,” not the bottom, to get the ketchup to flow.

The wind was blowing fiercely this morning, and we got a dose of wind-chimes. The chimes sounded pretty, so I did not tie them up.   I had to ask Mary, “What is a gust of wind’s favorite color?” I got the Mommy-Look, but I answered anyway, “Blew.”

Mary worked on the puzzle in our office, and I cleaned up some old code on the website. I got rid of flash and converted things to mp4 files, and you can see it at http://lilesnet.com/50/music/flash.htm.

Mornings are great as we have a large TV on the wall to listen to KTLA news. The table in the center is our puzzle table, and I occupy the computer doing the daily diary and other stuff.

We have everything we need!

After a couple of hours, we walk Five Miles before getting ready for the day! Life is good!

The puzzle is coming together!

We worked around the house, and I did more cleanup on the 1950s site. At 11:00 AM, we were ready to go to the Elks for Girls Night Out. Today, Nick is joining us. When we arrived, the weather was fantastic, a balmy 75-degree day.

Everything was going well until I asked Mary, “How do you move a piece of furniture at the weather station?” I got the look, but since I was four steps ahead of her and close to the door, I looked back and said, “They use four casters.”

Hello Elks, it’s a beautiful day!

Since I was already in trouble, I asked Mary to pose by the Lounge Elk. They made a great picture together.

Nick showed up at 11:45 AM, right in time to get a seat at the head of the table. We are both impressed with his comfortability with the “older crowd.” He fit right into the conversations and introduced himself to a couple of folks he did not know.

Nick and Mary

These two chattered the entire time!

Sydney and her dad joined us today. Jeannie had just been to the eye doctor recommended by Mary, so Mary talked to them for a while.

Sydney, Hal, and Jeannie joined us today.

Ronnie was out and about today and brought Mary a rose. A rose for a rose. Ronnie is the DJ for the Sock Hop, so we bought tickets for Hal and Jeannie to join us.

She loves the boat hat.

Iris wanted to go to the hop, but she has to stay off her feet for a week or so; she fell and messed up her right leg. Iris is a young 95, and Nick is 22; talk about an age difference.

Only 73 years apart! Iris and Nick are good friends.

Nick was rolling a lady out to her car when I looked up. I missed what had transpired, but apparently, our waitress asked Nick to assist the lady out and help her get the wheelchair into the car. He jumped up, marched right over, introduced himself, and took her to the car.

Nick assisted a lady out to her car.

I asked our waitress about what happened, and she said the following:

I was a very proud grandpa! He has had a good upbringing by two excellent parents! We found an Elks application, and Mary and I sponsored Nick into the Elks, so he will become my first grandchild to become an Elk. Now I shall work on the other three, Jonathan, Zack, and Connor!

We got a text from Bob and Robin; they also visited the Elks today!

Honolulu Elks Lodge

The view from the lodge is fantastic! We are anxious to hear more about it.

After getting home, we talked to the kids, and they were doing well. We hope Robin will return to the United States maybe this weekend!

We talked to the kids and told them about Nick.

On the way home I saw a sign that said: “Watch for Animals.”  I thought that was odd because I didn’t know animals could tell time.

After arriving home, we did a flyby, took soup to Bill in Costa Mesa, and then returned to visit with Jan and reduce her wine supply by a bottle. By the time we got home, we had some soup and crashed.

Mary added some cheese to her soup and I reached over to take a piece.   I learned something. Mary said, “What do you call cheese that’s not yours?”  I was flustered and did not have an answer!  She did, ” Nacho cheese!”

News Flash!  Mary finished her puzzle.

Mary finished the puzzle without resorting to xacto blades and glue

Goodnight all!
