Another Busy Day Going Here And There!

Today’s agenda: Maximum relaxation—with one tiny plot twist.  I’ve got a 2:00 pm doctor appointment (because nothing says “self-care” like medical paperwork).  It’s dinner with Robin at a local Mexican restaurant… exact location TBD based on vibes, hunger level, and how fast we can agree on a place.

The vascular doctor reviewed the ultrasounds and said, “You are good to go!”  No need to see her for another six months!  Good news from my recent Carotid Endarterectomy, which removed plaque from the carotid arteries in the neck to prevent strokes. The artery is wide open and doing well. The doctor was quite happy, and so were we!

We decided to skip wandering around and go straight home for a quick “snack” before our 5:30 dinner with Robin.  And honestly, snacking at our house is effortless—open the fridge, and you’re greeted by a million leftover containers from past dining adventures.  It’ss like our own personal buffet… if the theme was “mystery boxes” and “What even is this?”

We finished off the St. Patrick’s Day decorations and ran into cards from previous years sent by the Ashes.

Linda is an artist!!!

We camped out in the TV/living room for a bit, waiting for Robin to arrive.  Robin wanted Mexican food, so we put our heads together and—after a lot of effort—came up with slightly more than half a wit.

Finally, we admitted defeat and called in reinforcements: the Internet.  One quick consultation with Yelp (patron saint of indecisive diners) pointed us to Rodrigo’s Mexican Grill on Katella, just east of Tustin.

We have driven by the place 100 times and never stopped, that was a BIG mistake!

While reviewing the excellent menu, I spotted a 46-ounce margarita (their special), so indeed I ordered one!  It was big enough to take a bath in (the straws would have to be removed).

Before

I polished off a spicy flank steak dish, complete with beans (post-digestion sound removed) and rice.  and sipped the drink until I felt like I was floating!  Mary and Robin were good girls and had their excellent salads.   We laughed and giggled for two hours before going home.

After (Slurp, gurgle, belch!!)

Yes, that’s me showing the grandkids and great grandkids what we are supposed to so with a tortilla!

Needed: sharp teeth!

Rebin remembers when I taught Nick how to perform this mighty operation!

Once home, Mary and Robin headed to the kitchen to make some flower vases using “water balls”.  They are usually called orbeez, water beads, hydrogel, crystal soil, water polymer balls, and so on.

Did You Know? Decorative water balls (or water beads) are colorful, non-toxic, super-absorbent polymer crystals that expand in water to 100 times their size, used to hydrate fresh flowers, support silk flowers, and fill vases for decorative displays. They create a clear or colored, gelatinous, and hydrated base that replaces water and gravel, often used in weddings and centerpieces.Key Features and Uses:

Hydration: They provide a steady, slow-release moisture source for fresh flowers, keeping them fresh for extended periods without needing to replace standing water.

Decoration: Available in many colors and often used to create a glowing effect with LED light bases or as “floating” accents.

Versatility: They are popular for filling transparent glass vases or jars for event decor, providing a stable, elegant base for flower arrangements.

Reusable: If they dry out, they can be re-hydrated.

Soilless Planting: They can be used as a soil substitute for indoor plants, holding moisture to prevent over- or under-watering.

Robin had to go home this evening, so Mary and I got into our jammies (I got into hers, and she got into mine!!)  Remember, “Don’t ask, don’t tell!!!”

We camped out on the couch and watched three episodes of Suits, and then—show of rare restraint—finally pulled the plug at 11:00 pm.
