I woke up, and my vision just gets better every day. I had NO idea the difference the cataract operation would make. Here is the best comparison I could find and it was just about the way I was seeing Wednesday morning.
Robin stayed with us so we visited for several hours this morning. Carlos, our dear gardener, moved “Mama” from her severely root-bound pot to the back yard. Mama was given to me in 1990 when my mother passed. It was in a 4″ pot and was about 9″ tall. I have kept her with me ever since, and now she is twelve feet tall and soon will be growing again.

Carlos chopped off the bottom six inches of the rootball so Mama could start again. .
Standing tall with a great view of the yard, she is 33 years old and still going! It was a great gift, and I think of my Mom every time I see it. Mary has a plant which we are attempting to resuscitate that she got when her father passed many years ago. It’s name is “Daddy”.

I will always remember Mom!
I went to the sideyard and picked eight cups of loquats, and Mary made a loquat crumble. What a delicious (and certainly fresh) dessert! I had to chop off the blossom end (black), slipt the loquat and remove the seeds. This was exactly eight cups, and we still have three more loads of loquats on our side of the fence.

The loquats get a bath before the seeds are removed.
Into the oven at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes, and we have dessert!!

I could not resist a first bite!
The sweetpeas are going bonkers right now; Mary gives bouquets of flowers to everyone we know using small plastic vases from the grocery store. They stank pretty so we decided to take a batch to dinner this evening.

The sweetpeas are going wild.
The white corn is growing up nicely along with the watermelons and cantaloupes. We give them a little water hit every day! If all goes well, we will start harvesting in sixty days,

Corn in about 65 days; yummy!!
We went out to dinner this evening with friends and used the opportunity to do a special thing! You will have to guess what. The Capps, Zaitz, Dudas, and we went to Vitorio’s Italian Restaurant in Huntington Beach. Hint: We wore the same clothes as we did on July 28th, 2021! The meal was nice, and the company was wonderful!
But before we departed, we shared a glass of Wycliff, our favorite champagne. It was the first “drink” I had since early March; no big thing!

We had a glass of champagne before we departed.
At Vitorio’s, we got down the visiting instantly! The girls were animated this evening.

Donna and Mary
Robin, Mary, Donna, Mary, or RMDM for short. No wait! That is going! Bob takes the group photo.

The ladies were enjoying the banter.
The guys had the best view in the house!

The guyslooked pretty good also!
Mary and I made eyes at each other all night long! We knew what was coming.

My girl!
At about 9:00 pm, we mosey up to the piano for a quick picture. Most of the customers are gone now, so it is just us.

We celebrate, and Donna reads.
I could NOT resist; a smooch moment occurred right there in front of everyone. Feeling good this evening, I did not even charge her this time!

Look familiar?
Everyone? It was a very small group.

We are gathered!
Donna did the honors.

Donna had to be in the center.
Look familiar, right?

Sweet peas from our garden.
We headed home around 9:30 ppm, and Bob and Robin joined us for dessert; we all attacked the Loquat Crisp, and we added whipped cream to the top! It was a wonderful evening.

My girl!
