Another Busy Day!

Right on!

The day got started with us heading to PT; Mary’s arm is recovering nicely.  No longer can I hurl and insult and feel safe as the left arm can strike out at a moment’s notice. Splat!  For the last three months, I felt like a snowflake because I had a “safe space”; no more!

We walked the garden and ensured everything was OK for this evening’s visit bu the Starlighter’s Board.  Domi was here with her son again, and I took him to the south forty for a quick tour of the garden; I think he was amazed.

This swing is about twenty years old now; we keep it covered, and the canvas is almost like new!

It is Wednesday, so we popped down to the Elks for lunch with Bob and Bill; together, we solved the problems of the world.  Mary has a T-bone steak, and I did the  Frutti di Mare (seafood pasta or fruit of the sea) , or as Mary says, “You have pasta with creepy-crawlies in it.”

Our waiter dropped the plate of Alphabet Spaghetti. That could have spelled disaster.

The Elks do it right!

The steak did a little magic act; it disappeared.  The first steak was served as well done, so we sent it back; the second was perfect, and some if it will appear in a salad at home in the next couple of days

Yummy

Yummy

The Lodge was decorated for Easter, and we plan to be there with bells on Sunday; eleven of us!  What do you call a rabbit with fleas? Bugs Bunny!

The menu at the Elks looks amazing!

The decorations are quite nice!

After lunch, we went to the cardiologist and got there almost an hour early.  I said. ” There might be a cancellation,” and sure enough, we walked right in!   The results were amazing:

  • The one week heart monitor revealed nothing abnormal, no more so that someone with a healthy heart! Yeah!
  • The carotid artery scan revealed that there is some carotid artery stenosis.  The narrowing is caused by atherosclerosis. This is the buildup of fatty substances, calcium, and other waste products inside the artery lining.  He plans to recheck it every six months and perhaps in the future place a stint in the artery in the future.
  • My recorded blood pressure looked OK to him, and he suggested I tale half-amlodipine every morning and check my blood pressure twice a day.

All in all, it was positive news, and now I can fulfill the remaining eighteen-year contract with Dr. Mary!

We put The Silver Fox on automatic and headed home to get ready for our visitors.  We stopped at the market for last minute for easter Egg coloring supplies.  We are having twenty folks over on Saturday, which means a load of eggs!

  • Irene
  • Lisa & Pete and the vsarmit
  • Amy, Joe, and the varmints
  • Becka, Zachary, and the varmints
  • Beck and
  • Robin, Bob, and Nick
  • Michele, Franklyn, and Theo
  • Connor and his lady!

It going to be a full house.

The Starlighters were right on time, and Bob conducted with meeting with his normal aplomb; we were done in less than ninety minutes!

We visited with Jim and Vicky after the meeting.

We have wonderful friends who we adore!  I cannot even imagine where we would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given us a heart full of joy and shared our happiness. Let’s face it; friends make life a lot more fun.

Stories are told!

Mary decided to make deviled eggs as Charlie and Alex seemed to love them, so we chopped, sliced, and diced for another hour as we watched a James Bond movie.

Then we finished off the potato salad. Mary’s recipe is two parts!  First, but a good-tasting potato salad from the market.  Second, take it home and fix it with pickles, olives, celery, and magical spices (yes, including bat wings)!

We stayed up until past midnight for the first time in a while!  We crashed about 12:40 pm and went right to sleep!  Poor Scout, he had to go outside at midnight and I had to hold the flashlight; we was afraid of the dark!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
