Rain Rain Go Away… Until A Little Later!

Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?

It had been raining all night and it looked as if we would get it all day but we saw a break in the clouds and voila, sunlight! The Finch’s showed up right on time at 10:45 AM as we had to be in Bell at 11:30 AM to meet up with our good friends Javier and Evelia Gonzales!

Great dining…Interesting selections!

We have known the Gonzales’ for years and a couple of times a year, we go out dining together to catch up on things! We do other things like the Christmas Play and tequila tasting. Great folks!!!

They introduced us to La Casita in Bell. Evelia is mostly a vegetarian and since she speaks perfect Spanish, we fell great when we go out as she makes sure no meat, fish, or chicken is served! Brian and Jan joined us and Javier got Brian with “the little hot sauce container”!

“Blimy*… What is it?”

*Probably a corruption of (God) blind me! First attested in a slang dictionary which defines it as “an apparently meaningless, abusive term.”

I picked out Brian and Jan’s entrees and had NO idea what I was doing so we got three meat plates!

Brian did the CARNE ASADA “LA CASITA MEXICANA” – Bistec de res servido con nopal asado, queso fresco y esquite, acompan?ado con frijoles. CARNE ASADA. Delicious beef steak served with grilled cactus, queso fresco, corn, and beans.

Jan did the PLATILLO “TRES CARNES” – Deliciosa combinacio?n de tres carnes: Bistec de res, chorizo de la casa y cecina de res; servido con frijoles y nopal asado. Beef steak, homemade chorizo and beef cecina. Served with grilled cactus and beans.

I ordered the CARNE LA TAMPIQUEÑA – Deliciosa combinacio?n de bistec de res, con una enchilada roja rellena de queso cotija, y guacamole. Acompan?ado con frijoles. TAMPIQUEN?A. Delicious combination of beef steak with a red cotija cheese enchilada and guacamole. Served with refried beans.

By the time we departed and after a couple of margaritas, it quite raining so we scooted home. Brian and Jan were planning to meet with with Hans before they depart for the UK next week! I tried to pay the bills but I was so stuffed, I decided to take a short nap. I woke up three hours later! While I was asleep someone or something adjusted my bath roon scales because they indicated I was up three pounds!

I awoke about 6:30 PM and we got ready and went tot he GG Elks and danced a little until the music got too loud and we departed. The Zaitz, Branders, Iris & Will, Irene were there so we had a party…I love it when we all laugh so much it begins to hurt! Great times with great folks!

Arriving home at 9:45 PM, I went into the kitchen and set up for tookies…I learned NEVER to set the oven temperature int he dark! I set it at 425 instead of 350…after 16 minutes I attempted to serve my bride hockey pucks! Needless to say I was sent back to the kitchen for a second try! Second try worked!

We watched Mrs. Maisel and an Eureka before crashing. No rain so that was good!
