Mother’s Day Is Just Ahead…

Estimated reading time: 6 minutes

We were up at 7:00 am and getting ready for the gym!!

The calendar reveals that we have zero activities today except for the gym; oh my, we don’t know how to react!  We rolled over and slept until 7:00 am, which is the time we need to get up for the dreaded gym!

The gym workout was pretty good.  We rode for about 40 minutes before being selected for this morning’s sacrifice to the God of Pain!  I never knew that counting to fifteen could be so painful!

My doctor recently told me that jogging could add years to my life.  I think he was right.  I feel ten years older already.

We left the gym and somehow made it to the market, just two doors down.  Hanging onto the basket, we pushed each other up and down the aisle, tossing things into the basket as we strolled.

Finally, we got to the car and loaded the trunk with goodies before racing home.  I should mention that I did jog to the car, as I’m trying to stay healthy, but it was a bit embarrassing!

Oh dear!  Mary thought it was funny!

Mary went to the kitchen and made an excellent breakfast, while I wandered upstairs and began working on the Chinese puzzle, also known as an artist’s table!  I had parts all over the floor, all carefully laid out so I could find them when needed.

Mary’s artist table is getting completed today!

Mary called me to breakfast and I departed post-haste, sliding down the bannister at velocities only known to Superman!  I carefully slid down the hallway, trying to avoid Scout, and I landed at my assigned seating location within seconds of the breakfast notification.

After breakfast, we wandered the garden, just checking things out.   The Spring temperatures are reacting with the plants, as every day we see more and more blossoms popping up on the fruit trees.

The morning garden walk revealed that nectarines are blooming.

The Casa Valencia Vineyard is coming to life with baby grapes forming all over.  We are being careful this year to trim the branches as we go and not let them get 15 feet long like last year.  This will force the branches to fruit near the base, making them easy to pick.

We have bunches of grapes in the vineyard.

As we came back inside, Mr. Rabbit asked when he would be put away, and we decided that Tuesday morning would be a good time.  The decorations were pretty this year, and we’re getting good at putting them up and taking them down!

Bunny says, “Bye-bye, see you next year!”

We thought Scout might want to assist us, but alas, he decided to hold down the rug and keep an eye on the front door in case any elephants came by!

Scout provides adult supervision,

We got a message from Vicky, and they are having a wonderful time.  We expect to see them in about four or five days and they will be pooped out but will have wonderful stories to tell us.  Vicky is having fun with the new phone/camera!

We went to Jeff’s and visited for a while, bringing him some Easter goodies.  He will not have to cook tomorrow!

Returning home, we spotted something strange in the pool.  We asked Scout, and he shrugged, stating he didn’t see or hear anything.  Well, we had a DUCK sitting (hopefully that was all he was doing) in the pool!  We chased him away after getting a couple of pictures.  If he shows up again, we should report him to the local police!

Mr. Duck decided to take a quick swim!

Ah, dinnertime!  That time of day when orders are barked, plates clatter, the sound of knives being sharpened cuts the air, the refrigerator hinges squeak, flames shoot up from the stove, and silverware levitates from their drawer onto the kitchen island.  We look at each other, trying to guess what we are making!

Dinner is underway.  Mary is making stir-fry, and I’m making mushrooms.

We bought a roasted chicken this morning, and Mary picked off the meat, saving the carcass for me to make chicken soup the next day.  We went to the garden to harvest ingredients for the stir-fry and came back with a sack of greens, carrots, and other veggies.

I concentrated on a bag of mushrooms we had and wanted to avoid them going bad.  With butter, olive oil, a whole lemon, plenty of garlic, 1/2 cup of wine, and salt and pepper, I sautéed up a side dish of mushrooms!

The mushrooms are coming along fine!

Dinner was outstanding; the stir-fry was spectacular!!!!  I don’t know how she does it, but I was full, and the calorie count was low.  Tomorrow’s guess will be 198.6 if all goes well.    I did break down and have half a glass of wine at dinner, and after a week on the wagon, I felt like I had a buzz.  I decided to stay on the wagon, so Snapple Diet Peach drink was my go-to for the remainder of the evening.

The nebulizer and I met for 30 minutes at 9:00 pm, and then it was off to bed.  A nebulizer is a medical device that converts liquid medication into a fine mist, allowing it to be inhaled directly into the lungs.  This is particularly helpful for people with respiratory conditions like asthma, COPD, or cystic fibrosis, where the medication can be delivered directly to the affected area.

Tonight, the house is still decorated for Easter; tomorrow it will be  Mother’s Day!

As I lay down to sleep, I had a dream about how lucky I am to live with such a fantastic person!  Life is good, and Mary makes it perfect!

I am so delighted to have her in my life!
