We know it is the end of summer! A looming heat wave in Southern California could break records this week as temperatures will likely climb well above 100 degrees in parts of the region. The heat wave will bring temperatures roughly 12 to 14 degrees above average in northern Orange County. Several cities, including Brea and Fullerton, may hit triple-digits on Friday.
This is nothing new. Having lived in California all my life, I know there is always a spike at the end of summer, and people worry about the weather. As we get old, we say “poo” to the gas and electric companies and get the pool ready for a full day of activities!
At 8:15 am, we departed in the Silver Fox for our biweekly battle with our personal trainers. We arrived on time and did the prerequisite 30+ minutes on the cycles. Over time, I have moved the workload into the middle range, and I hope that by the end of this next quarter, I can ride uphill the whole time.
We made a daring voyage to the mystical land of the market, which exists right next to our humble gym. There, we acquired the sacred elixir of calcium known as milk and other essential artifacts for our survival before embarking on the treacherous journey back to our sanctuary at Casa Valencia.
We went into the garage attic and downloaded the Halloween and Fall decorations so we could begin making the house look spooky!
Dianne called, and we decided we should go to the hospital, stay with her for a while, and then take her to lunch; we need to make sure she is caring for herself in this period of turmoil!
We went to Benji’s Deli on Tustin and devoured pastrami at an alarming rate!
After lunch, we dropped off Dianne at the hospital and headed home. As we drove up Chapman Blvd, the car’s thermometer registered 105 degrees.
Upon arriving home, we decided to watch TV in the TV room (once known as the living room) as it was too hot to do anything else.
At 8:30 p.m., we ventured outside into the heat and went swimming. We splashed around for about 90 minutes before returning inside, which was excellent!
The blue floaters are handy; I can let the currents take me all over the pool!
We brushed our teeth and hit the sack at 10:15 pm!
