Hello Saturday! How You Be? We Review The Trenching.

Fact: It’s Saturday Night!  Chevy Chase first uttered that famous line on October 11th, 1975.  The sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live would become one of the longest-running series of all time, with over 47 seasons as of 2022.

We were up at 6:00 AM, hit the firepit, and watched the fog moving out over Santa Ana.  The yard is quiet; the only sound is an occasional bird flying by.

The garden progress is slower than I thought, but it will be done correctly.  All the trenches are in for the 6″-8″ wall foundations.

“Keep your eyes on the stars, keep your feet on the ground.” – Theodore Roosevelt.

Almost twenty yards of dirt have been moved to date!

Robin came out to inspect things, and I walked her through the plans for the various vegetable beds.

“Oh my goodness!”

Bob popped in about 9:30 AM, and we had breakfast.  Mary made Egg-McMommies.  We had a bottle of champagne so the day would be good no matter what happened.

Bob and Robin took off to Corona and got a rental car, then back to Los Alamitos to visit the car and get the dash-cam chip.  On the way back, they suggested a Pierogi dinner; we opted for that in three seconds flat.  Eating this many pierogi at once?  That’s my Pierogi-tive.

Did You Know?  Pierogi are filled dumplings made by wrapping unleavened dough around a savory or sweet filling and cooking in boiling water.  They are often pan-fried before serving.

Pierogi or their varieties are associated with the cuisines of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe.  However, they most likely originated in China and came to Europe via trade in the Middle Ages.  The widely-used English name pierogi was derived from Polish.  In Ukrainian, Russian, and Belorussian, they are called varenyky.  Pierogi are also popular in modern-day American and Canadian cuisine, where they are sometimes known under different local names.

Typical fillings include potato, cheese, quark, sauerkraut, ground meat, edible mushrooms, or fruits.  Savory pierogi are often served with a topping of sour cream, fried onions, or both.

Mary and Bob did the cooking, I did the picking, and Robin supervised the drinking; it was a team effort!

While cooking and dining was going on, Alexa got a workout by playing Polish/German music.  We called Hans and Kristen and chatted with them for a while.

We will definitely remember the difference!

After dinner means wine by the firepit, Robin did not want her portrait this evening; speak to the hand.

The chef gets a break!  Bob did a magnificent job with the pierogi dinner.  Mary added some stuffed eggplant to the mix, and the four of us were stuffed!

I had my new shirt on; check the doggie’s face!  Yes, Scout, The Wonder Dog is proudly portrayed on my chest!

The fire was beautiful, and we sat and talked until it got dark.  We love our family very much, and making a pierogi dinner was an excellent idea!

After the kids departed, Mary and I attempted to watch a movie, but Mr. Sandman had a different idea! Tomorrow is Paint With Booze Day and The Starlighters.  Yeah, we get to dance!
