Hello Monday

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Fact: Psycho was released in black and white because it was too gory.  Alfred Hitchcock kept receiving backlash for the 60’s slasher for its gory shower scene.  Refusing to cut the scene, Hitchcock instead released the film in black and white.  It sounds a lot like how gore is still censored to this day.

Today we worked around the house getting ready for the arrival of Miss Colleen.  We worked in the office for a good two hours, working on a specific website that gives me fits and Mary on her new puzzle.

My camera revealed pictures from one year ago, interesting!

One year ago today, Mary and Bark The Wonder Dog diggin in her garden!

Around 10:00 AM, I did a run to the cleaners so we would have green clothes to wear this week on the 17th and then to Ralph’s to get a special Milk that Colleen uses.

Look for “A Blue Cow With A Silly Grin,” she said!

Mary had fixed a fabulous brunch back home, and we dined al fresco.  Nope, I did NOT show up naked this time because I learned (and remembered) what al fresco means!

The pile of chopped closet doors awaited me!  I hauled one upstairs and placed it in the attic to see if my idea about the closet doors would work.  The attic was dusty, and I coughed for two hours later.  Next time, I will mask up!

Time to make my (now) world-famous loquat crumble.  We have a large loquat tree next door, and the neighbor said, “PLEASE pick all you want!”

  • Loquats are a variety of fruit that likely originated in China, and they were probably brought into Japan, where they became exceedingly abundant and have long been cultivated.
  • ‘Loquats’ are also known as ‘Japanese plums,’ ‘Chinese plums,’ and Japanese Medlar.

Loquats have orange fruits on a branch with leaves on a blue wooden background.

I seeded about four cups of loquats, cutting off the stem end and slicing them in half.  They go into a pan and cook for about 45 minutes on med-high to bring out the juices.  Then the sugar and cornstarch go into the mix and cook for another few minutes.  It is a delicious filling.

The crumbles are light brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and flour.  After mixing, the crumble mix is spread on the filling, and the whole thing is baked for 25 minutes at 400 degrees.  Oh, it was so good!

Yummy!

Actually, Mary baked the dish while I did another run to the local market for some chicken for tonight’s dinner.  Angel hair pasta to die for!  I was going to take pictures, but the meal was so dang good I forgot.  We sat at the table and talked for an hour.

We had a fantastic dinner, we cleaned up and went to the office to watch the war before crashing during a movie.  All in all, it was a relaxing day!
