It’s 2018 Right? 2020 Minus Two? So Confusing!

An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.

An old cartoon from the early 1900’s

What a day!  We finished off packing the Christmas clothes and put everything away.  A mad dash to the bank was needed so we can pay the bands tomorrow necessitated a Bank Of America visit.  While out and about, I purchased about 100 coat hangers of various designs and got rid of the collection of hangers we had been using, all different.

Lunch was leftovers, but we believe that “leftover” tamales taste better than the originals!  We are down to four boxes of left-overs now, and they will likely disappear tomorrow morning.  We must save room for New Year’s Eve dinner at the club.  Last year we had so much food including lobster, clams, shrimp, roast beef, and a myriad of other delights.

I have been seriously thinking about a diet after the first but now I wonder if it will work!

This makes me think it is useless to try!

After lunch, I made an appointment for my cancer surgery and did a few other medical arrangements.  The older we get, the more the doctors play a roll in our social life.

We remember the past two years at the club.  We have that past seventeen years on-line so we can watch the many years unfold!

Our grandson and his lady joined us last year and will be doing it again this year!

Tomorrow shall be a new year! Hello from Old Ranch Country Club 12/31/2018

Pete and Lisa come up from San Diego and stay the evening with us or locally and help us with all the logistics.  We pick up some older folks who love to dance but can no longer drive!

Lisa, our “daughter-in-law,” kinda and a real sweetheart!

Midnight is approaching, so Sue and I assist the clock in moving along!

Almost midnight and we were counting down

Our family enjoys being together, and this year Joe and Amy will join. Colleen will Skype into the party. Then we will have everyone!

Love our family, 2919!

We are surrounded by family 2018!

We have our family; We have everything!

We went out for dessert late in the afternoon and downed some  Coldstone Creamery delights!  We used chopsticks to eat the ice cream, therefore, negating any effects of the calories!

Zack stopped by after work and visited for a while.  We discuss a bunch of stuff and he is going to help me with a railing on the front porch to make it easier to exit the door for Sue.

Tonight we watched some TV, and then I had to hit the books (translation: get the seating charts finalized).  It’s not easy to seat 120 people and have everyone get what they wanted!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
