Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?
Indeed it is finally raining. When I hit the ground, at 6:30 AM, the concrete around the pool was dry. Oh no, I thought, the “weather-guesser” missed again! Joe called at 6:30 AM and we talked for a half-hour about guy-stuff. You know, the first liar doesn’t have a chance. He is a good boy and we are proud of him!
At 7:15 AM, the iPhone alerted me that rain will start in one minute and last seven minutes. It was quite correct! It is raining! I called Colleen on the “bat-phone” and reminded her to listen to Dr. Laura as it is the annual corny jokes day.
It’s almost Thanksgiving and 49 years ago, I lost my father. Thanksgiving has never been the same!
We ran around the house, cleaning things up because our house cleaners are due at 10:30 AM. We decided to do CPK at 11:00 AM because we get our favorite booth, and the place is not too crowded. I did a half-turkey and brie sandwich with a Ceasar salad. Perfect! We capped lunch off by sharing a red velvet cake with ice cream!
After returning home, the Silver Ghost and I returned to Old Ranch. It was “dry” this afternoon, but the clouds are threatening, and it is supposed to rain pretty hard this evening. I whipped out the iPhone as the Silver Ghost turned onto Seal Beach Blvd on our way to Old Ranch as the clouds were pretty impressive.
I confirmed tomorrow’s seating arrangements and conferred with the chef about needing a second turnkey or not; we decided it was not required. On the way to the car, the sunset had just occurred, and the clouds were amazing.
We sat and had a glass of wine before heading to the TV to get amazed about Christmas. First, we watched “A Rose For Christmas.” Summary: Andy’s family has built Rose Parade floats for generations. When her Dad gets sick, Andy’s forced to supervise the construction and decoration of their client’s float and deal with a demanding businessman whose company commissioned it. Cute watching the interactions between the players.
Then we watched “Signed, Sealed, and Delivered For Christmas.” Summary: When the beloved quartet of postal detectives- Oliver (Mabius), Shane (Booth), Rita (Lowe) and Norman (Gustafson)-discover an urgent letter written to God, they delay their travel plans to help a little girl who’s mother’s life hangs in the balance on Christmas Eve. With guidance from a mysterious post office volunteer, Jordan (Estes), and Oliver’s former Sunday School teacher (Ross), the Postables are surprised to discover they’ve been a part of more than one miracle on this Christmas Eve.
We made our tookies and watched two series before crashing at 10:30 PM. We are getting rested up as December will be busy!
