Time To Remember

“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God such men lived.” – George S. Patton

God Bless our military!

Today is special and we are quietly celebrating the great heroes of our armed forces. We love to listen to Channel 73 on SIRIS/XM as today they interspersed patriotic memories between the great music of the 1940’s. Lot’s to things to think about. TAPS is such a haunting melody,

We walked quietly in our garden collecting our thoughts. While out taking in the beauty of today’s sun and sky, we visited our corn admiring its rapid rise to over seven feet. We visited the boys and the girls….yes, the boys and the girls! We helped things along by shaking the boys pollen loose so it would fall onto the silk and thus corn full ears of corn… not a challenge for the faint of heart!

We continued our walk and of course the berries came into focus. Carefully, I managed to lower my hand into the brambles and locate a ripe berry… who will soon be in my mouth providing a shock of flavor as it is crushed between my mighty jaws.

Yummy with a capital YUM!!

Did You Know? Botanically, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries are NOT actually berries.  They are classified as aggregate fruits – fruits that develop from multiple ovaries of a single flower.

Some examples of true berries are blueberries, gooseberries, cranberries, grapes, tomatoes, bananas and peppers.

So much for the science… I am into the eating as evidenced by my weight of 210 pounds… on it’s way down slowly to a nice 195! Fifteen of these little fellers were spotted this morning and they landed into a bowl and because a mighty snack!

This little guy is not longed for this world!

It’s the end of May… OMG, the year is almost half over and Halloween is on its way. Must check the pumpkin patch! Will the pumpkins be ready for Charlie and Alex and Lilly? Well, it seems the pumpkins have heard me and they are beginning to form.

The base of this female blossom will soon become a full fledged pumpkin and, if all goes well, might up upward of 80 pounds of grandchild delight!

Where does time go? A quick check reveals it is time for a show and to mount the Silver Ghost and make our way to the Panda Inn. As we departed the hood, we stopped and snapped a photo as the clouds were amazing against the bright blue sky!

The sky was magnificent!

Panda Inn here we come. We meet Amy and Joe and the varmints there quite often as it is both good food and half-way in between our homes. Today, Miss Carri joined the group…always a delight. We got the rundown on the latest ball game, have plans to visit Amy since she is escaping school starting this Friday, and planning for the 4th of July get together.

Tales were told about last nights party.. Amy and Joe were in stitches! So were we!

We enjoyed a great meal with all sorts of delights including a special chicken dish for Alex called “Emperor Alex’s Chicken”. Tall tales were told and we caught up on the entire family with special emphasis on Colleen…he he he! Mitch almost joined us but he and Zachary’s family went to Klaus’ for the afternoon.

The time had come…two hours of visiting and sharing meant we had to go home and take a nap…checking for light leaks…we did and there weren’t!!

Our Family… It’s a serious group…. Well, sometimes serious

It was terrible… a loud clap of the sacred bell and the place broke out in rabbit ears… can you imagine? Ears everywhere. Carri escaped the moment but we tool notes… she gets rabbit ears next time!

Great fun with super family!

We headed home…nap time for sure but at 5:00 PM sharp, we shall arise form the dead and make our way to the second happiest place on earth, Malarkey’s where we mett up with Miss Charlotte. She is heading for Denmark this week to visit her Mom for a month and we had to get some time with her before she departs!

The visit was super…Charlotte and I shared some health food…potato skins stuffed with bacon and buffalo wings! This is Charlotte’s last taste of America for almost a month!

Returning home, we watched Gilmore Girls, Grey’s Anatomy and we looked for “ER” on Netflix. Tookies at Ten! Life is good!

My son Joe and I have a lot in common!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend.
