Saturday! Named After Satur?

Think About It: Time may be a great healer but it’s also a lousy beautician!

Ready for a shock? It’s only 87 days until Christmas! Fall is here finally.  When I jumped out of the sack, the outside temperature was a wonderful 62 degrees.  We are going to get another 80 degree day but it only lasts for a couple of hours!  Yeah Fall!

I’ve gotta get the list started before it is too late!

Did You Know? Saturday is based on the Latin dies Veneris, “Day of Venus”. Saturday: named after the Roman god Saturn associated with the Titan Cronus, father of Zeus and many Olympians. Its original Anglo-Saxon rendering was Sæturnesdæg.

Good news; Bad news.  Our son Joe called this week and wanted some advice on his career.  He is thinking about making a change after many years with the same company.  Jumping from a large private company with no medical or retirement plans but good money to a quasi-government job with excellent security, medical and retirement but a 20% cut in initial salary.

Good news is he asked us, makes us feel our inputs are important and trusted.  Bad news is we remember being in the same boat half was through out careers and know what a gut wrenching experience it is.  We plan to talk more this weekend!

‘It wasn’t an easy decision for me to make. Lots of coin tossing went into it.’

After a quick trip to the hardware store(s) I worked on the blackberry patch and thank goodness I had welders gloves to use! My normal garden gloves would have been riupped to shreds in about ten minutes.  While out, I stopped at H&H Nursery in Long Beach and got strawberries, onions, cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli for the garden. They are are all now planted and on their way to becoming dinner/dessert in the near future.

We were planning to go to the Elks but I was not feeling great and I wanted Sue to rest so…we binged on Gilmore Girls!  Rory graduated High School tonight!  I almost cried!

We hit the sack at midnight!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
