The “Singing Walker” Gets Silenced… Social Directors On Occasion

Paul went on a long walk this morning singing the song “Singing In The Rain” because he really was walking and “singing” in the rain!  Actually, it sounded more like howling!  He had to stop as the neighborhood canines would have none of that!  Paul kept thinking “Who will Let The Dog’s Out?”

Not too bad for an “Old Man”… Attempting to increase distance and speed every week

The flowers are really enjoying all the water and are pretending it is spring time!  We can see small buds forming on the trees just waiting to burst out with springtime energy!

Love the post rain flowers… So pretty and fresh looking!

The cacti are growing right out of the rock! All the rain has really given the ground a good soaking feeding roots that have been dry for years!  The red colors are vibrant against the rocky background.

They poked their little heads right up out of the rocks

The colors… sensational! The day was patchy sunshine and when the sun hit the flowers, they were amazing!

Did You Know? Brightly colored flowers attract different insects to come visit the flower. When insects like bumblebees perch on a flower’s petals looking for nectar, pollen gets stuck to their bodies. When insects fly off to another flower, the pollen is transferred to the new flower.

Flower colors of red, pink, blue and purple come mainly from the pigments called anthocyanins, which are in the class of chemicals called flavanoids (what gives plants their color). Other pigments are carotenoids, found in tomatoes and carrots, that provide yellow, red and orange in the plastids.

Love the vivid colors and the flowers look like they are reaching for the sky

…and Mr Frog, and friends, waved hello as Paul passed by.  Paul thought he heard them say “Don’t croak”.  Must have been his imagination.  Paul could not quite make out the signs there were carrying.

The frogs were celebrating the return of the rain!

We got our on-line thermostat going (thanks to Mr. “Z”) and it is so easy to connect and adjust the home heater/air conditioning system from anywhere!  Love it!  Thank you Honeywell and Zachary.

Ring ring ring… Anyone home??

We can turn on-off the heater and adjust the temperatures and fan settings!  So nice because we can turn everything off when we leave and on our way home from being out, we can get the house nice and cozy for us!

Easy to use and very efficient… Saves running the house all day!

Last night we were at the Garden Grove Elks when Paul remembered the Petroleum Club dance and we invited most of the gang!  Donna, Sue, Bob, and Paul went to this event a few months ago (October 2015) and had a load of fun.  We dine in the “Red Room” and then we have a reserved table on the dance floor.  For $8.00 per person it is such a deal.  This time it will be the Roberts, Kuhns, Branders, us, and Bob and Donna.

Us… Social Directors? Yup!

In the afternoon, Sue did the treadmill and later on we went to Old Ranch to cure our cabin fever.  Paul has two bowls of their vegetarian black bean soup…  It was fantastic!  We finally returned home and watch Murphy’s Romance and crashed around 12:30 AM.  It was a little sad to see Sally Field look so real and rationale in the movies and see that she is such a nutcase looney tune liberal in real life.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
