Hello Summer; Happy To See You!

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Why was it so hot in the stadium after the baseball game? All the fans left!

After Scout had done his morning activity, he came running into the house with a piece of paper, wanting us to read it.  He barked it was from a neighbor who had lost his pet.  We opened it up and were slightly surprised.

Lost but NOT forgotten!

We worked in the house all day with some gardening activities.   Mary deadheaded the roses again and put on some fungi repellent.  I trimmed, moved the 100 foot black hose around, and put in two new hydrants.

Mary went inside with two huge zucchini and several other items she had harvested.  She made stuffed zucchini!

Mary is an amazing chef!

We then worked in the office, paying bills, arranging our social life, and calling friends.

Finally, we were getting “cabin fever,” at 3:30 pm, we went to Aces Bar and Grill, had a glass of vino, and some jalapeno poppers.

Late afternoon snack at Ace’s.

The “guys” were there (6-8 fellows that meet at Ace’s 3:30 on Wednesdays).  We set the jukebox to Boby Darin before we entered; they were ready for us; they knew, based on the music, that we were close by!  We got a standing ovation.

We control the music.

While finishing the appetizers, we decided to take some stuffed zucchini to David and Dianne’s which is a good excuse to visit them for a while.   We swapped stories and laughed a lot.  David is going to beat the cancer one way or another!

When we got home, we were not hungry, so we popped into the swim spa for three cycles which always made us drowsy and ready to crash.

We laugh and giggle like two little kids!

It was the first day of summer, and every day will get shorter until December 21st!  The sunset was at 8:06 pm, and the Moon and Venus came out to play a half-hour after that.

Venus and the Moon were bright in the sky!

We called Colleen, Greg, and Lee Barachman (my high school lady friend).  We walked to everyone, but Lee, who was in the desert dune buggy riding with her grandson!

When I took Scout out for his evening constitutional, I snapped a picture of the watering can pouring LED lights.

Good Night All

We crashed; we read without TV (we both have Kindle Paperwhites).  I used ice on my face from the surgery as it was puffy and turning blue/grey.  I didn’t notice any difference.

Right before going to bed, I did go out and shine four more pairs of shoes.  I told Mary to buff the shoes; one had to be in the buff!  I guess I will be doing her shoes for her.

Photo properly censored!

Come on eighty degrees; the veggies need you!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
