I was thinking about old age and decided that old age is when you still have something on the ball, but you are just too tired to bounce it.
We both woke up thinking about yesterday with Robin and family at the Science Center. The best story is about Sue who was teaching High School math and for the summer she was going to work at Disneyland but she tried Rockwell after seeing the poster entitled “A Spaceship Has Landed On Earth”.
She signed up…joined the software department and ended up in the Avionics Development Laboratory in 1973 where we first met. I was running the ADL at that time.
She made a good choice leaving Rockwell -> Boeing after 35 years as a program management executive running the ground segment of a large government program.
The weekend has been a whirlwind and finally we get to relax. We were going to go to the OC Fair again but we decided it was time to stay home! A walk in the garden is called for so off I go!
Corn anyone? This is our second crop this year. The first disappeared quickly as we both love corn! I tried a new way of planting them… in deep rows so the roots would be totally underground…hopefully that will keep the corn from falling over like the last crop!
We inspected the tomato crop and they were beautiful. Too bad the plants get ugly as the fruits gets ripe…alas, we vote for the fruit! We are always watching the yard for birds as they seem to know when to come and peek the tomatoes! We have red, yellow, giants, and tiny tomatoes a.. over the yard.
We did not overdo the tomato planting this year and that was good as we have not had any yet (too busy being retired). They look outstanding so far…and they are loaded with fruit.
Sunday afternoon we watched TV and did odd jobs around the house. Being a home owner means there is always something to do. I finally fixed my front yard power source. Learned something new today…the GFI switches must have a load on them to be able to be reset! That means, I did NOT have to take it apart again today IF I would have had a load on the switch, I could have reset it!
We watched “Return To Witch Mountain” as we had not seen it in years. Summary: A Las Vegas cabbie enlists the help of a UFO expert to protect two siblings with paranormal powers from the clutches of an organization that wants to use the kids for their nefarious plans.
We chatted with Colleen and Mark for a while…they were upstairs in their master bedroom keeping away form the heat…it was 97 and 95% humidity in New Hampshire today. Being in California has some good features.
We finally crashed at midnight after tookies!
