Page 5 Monday 8/7/2023 - We Have Some Excitement.
Today is such a peaceful day, with calm seas and a relaxing atmosphere. We decided to take it easy and enjoy a leisurely morning. We started our day with a delicious breakfast from room service, which never disappoints. It was a lovely way to begin our day and set the tone for the rest of our adventures.
Breakfast is served.
We thought about heading to the spa and maybe getting in some exercise, but I had a different idea in mind.
After breakfast number one, we went to The Italian Restaurant and had another breakfast about two hours later.
Good decision!
I had my official drinking shirt ready to go!
Yummy!
We walked close to 6,000 steps every day which may account for the fact we didn't come back weighing 15 pounds more than when we started.
On our way to the cabin, we passed by the grazing fields, which are commonly known as the buffet. Suddenly, a bull elephant charged towards the BBQ section, and we had to jump out of the way to avoid getting trampled! It was quite a scary experience, but thankfully, we managed to escape unharmed.
We walked by the grazing fields (the buffet) and it was busy!
I surprised Mary with some roses today, and I must say they were quite stunning. The petals were a beautiful shade of red and they had a lovely fragrance. It was a lovely surprise for her and I was glad to see that she was really pleased. The best part is that they lasted almost a full week! I'm definitely going to have to get her some more flowers soon.
A rose for a rose!
It was a bit breezy on the deck today, but Iwestill enjoyed taking a walk. The fresh air and sunshine were invigorating, and it felt good to stretch our legs. Plus, there's something special about being out in the elements, feeling the wind in your hair and the sun on your face. All in all, it was a lovely day to be outside, and we're grateful for the opportunity to enjoy it.
Checkout the blue color of the sea!
I had the cane just in case!
Mary suggested going to the pool but I was afraid of what might happen!
We walked back to the cabin where Mary took some photos of her roses.
A couple's massage is a great way to experience intimacy in a new way and increase feelings of affection. Dim lighting, soft music, and relaxing fragrances are staples to a perfect date and help set the mood for the rest of your day.
After 45 minutes of massage we could hardly stand!
Our bed was turned down and an assortment of canapes was awaiting us.
The red pillow is Mary's she brought from home.
Did You Know? - Canapés are typically made with an edible base – crackers, blinis, bread or pastry, and served cold. Hors d'oeuvres are small bites of something tasty and can be both savory or sweet, and served hot or cold.
The canapes were a perfect pre-dinner appetizer.
Over the teeth and through the gums, lookout tonsils, here it comes!
"I will never reveal how it is done! Think of it as magic!"
"OK, I am ready!"
Another evening in the Grille and this time it is with new friends we have met, David and Linda!
Dang! Lookin' good!
I am a lucky man!!
Dressed to the nines!
This table was perfect, all I had to do was turn around and there was wine!
Martini time!
We had just ordered but as a prank, I went to the Maitre D' and arranged for four lobster tails to be delivered to our dining parter, David. He had just bragged about being "The Lobster King".
As soon as I returned to the table, the Captain came on over the PA system and said, "We have a medical emergency on board. Is there an Ophthalmologist on board? Please come to deck four, medical center!"
Mary gave me the stink-eye thinking I had arranged this announcement! I denied it but again she said, "Paul, how did you arrange for this joke?"
I rose up, said "Let's go now" and she was still unsure of the situation!
We visited the medical center on the ship we were traveling on. We were greeted by the ship's MD and the Captain was also present. However, they mistook me for the doctor, which I promptly corrected. It was a bit embarrassing, but we all had a good laugh about it afterwards.
I married the looks and the brains; this ol' man ain't a dummy!
Wow, it was a real situation!
Mary was briefed by the doctor and she examined the patients eye which turned out to be infected terribly. The ships MD was using eye drops which Mary knew would not work.
They conferred and found another medication which Mary suggested. It was to be put on the eye every hour.
The Captain and the Doctor were amazed there was an Ophthalmologist on board and asked Mary is there was anything they could do for her. We said yes, three things:
- Could they arrange to have dancable music played in the lounge in the afternoon?
- Could we visit the engine room?
- Could we visit the bridge?
All requests were granted in spades!
THey also sent Mary an amazing bouquet of flowers.
The Captain was concerned about his passenger and even contemplated turning the ship around. Mary's technique improved the gentleman's eye issue overnight but he still needed to see a retinologist on shore ASAP.
A retina specialist is an ophthalmologist who has undergone additional, intensive training to specialize in diseases and conditions related to the vitreous and retina in both adults and children. Most patients are referred to retina specialists after a comprehensive eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
The Shero was born!
After about 45 minutes, we returned to the dining room and our meal had been reordered and was warm and inviting; Mary was the hero!
Our new friends waited for us to get the scoop!
We finished of a delightful dinner!
The next morning, Mary got a surprise.
This called for a drink! Hell, on a ship, anything calls for a drink1
The Movies Under The Stars was going full blast on the Lido Deck by the pool!
Not too bad for old folks!
