Page 4 Sunday 8/6/2023 - We Are Just Beginning The Trip!
We were up early and decided to order room service for breakfast. We ordered two pots of coffee and some omelets to give us the energy we needed to get ready and head out for the day.
Last night, we received a text from Bob Z. He shared Mary Capp's play-list with me, so we can have some danceable music available in the lounge.
Michelangelo Dining Room (Deck 5), Botticelli Dining Room (Deck 6) and Da Vinci Dining Room (Deck 6): Emerald Princess' main dining rooms are all similar in style; large open rooms with neutral color tones, rich wood paneling, patterned carpets and rustic Italian paintings on the walls. Crisp white linens cover traditionally set circular tables.
All three restaurants serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Botticelli Dining Room offers fixed dining times, while Michelangelo and Da Vinci dining rooms offer anytime dining, which means passengers aren't restricted to a reservation time.
The menu was fairly complete ranging from cold cereal to eggs anyway you like it!
"I'll take one of each!"
Starting with fresh fruit!
Hey, just wanted to share some info about the Medallion we were given to wear. It's kind of like a chip that dogs have, and if we're not careful, we could get found anywhere on the ship. On the bright side, the Princess App on our phone can help us locate ourselves, which was really useful during the first few days.
This morning we are in the Da Vinci Dining Room at a table near the starboard side of the ship! (We are the green dot above)
My breakfast was excellent!
(I had already eaten the Salmon!!)
Rocking and Rolling; It did not bother us at all!
We definitely indulged this morning! We couldn't resist heading upstairs to the Italian restaurant for another delicious breakfast. The servers there were so attentive, constantly bringing out more and more delicious dishes. We may have overdone it a bit, but it was totally worth it!
Cafe Latte was needed to get her heart started.
I had just a little more breakfast; I was hungry!
Down the hatch!
The Internet on the ship was absolutely incredible. We even managed to call Irene and catch her and Scout taking a break on the patio after a busy morning of petting. Scout seemed to think he had gone to doggy heaven!
It was great to hear that Irene is doing well. We were able to text each other non-stop 24/7 thanks to the amazing Internet connection. It made the trip so much more enjoyable!
Going with the flow!
We kept wandering around and exploring the ship, and we stumbled upon something amazing in the center of the ship. There was a large overhead Tiffany lamp that was beautifully decorated and really caught our attention. It was definitely a unique and impressive feature of the ship.
Three floors of shopping!
Barf Bags anyone? Yes, it was a bit rough but we had zero problems.
As wind blows across the surface of the ocean or a lake, the continual disturbance creates a wave crest. These types of waves are found globally across the open ocean and along the coast. More potentially hazardous waves can be caused by severe weather, like a hurricane.
The portholes on Deck 4 were closed and locked so we were having 4-8 foot waves but nothing that seemed abnormal!
Another few hours and we will be back to calmer weather.
The CG (Center Of Gravity) of the boat is 8 feet above the keel meaning the boat would have to lean over 65 degrees before one would have to worry.
We sat and had a drink and watched the people attempt to walk from here to there; it was a funny sight.
The Duo was making beautiful music but a lot of people were in their rooms.
The Princess has excellent acoustics they are easily heard but not ear splitters.
Theater and Shows on Emerald Princess: The 800-passenger-capacity Princess Theater is the ship's main show venue, and it also hosts movies from time to time when not featuring production shows and comedy acts. Seats are plush with spaces to hold drinks (there's waiter service before the shows start)
We found the Princess Theater at the front of the ship.
The veterans get together once a week and share stores and meet and greet. I encouraged Dr. Mary to attend the veterans' weekly gathering where they share stories and catch up with one another.
Dr. Mary shared a touching story about a young man who did not have a discharge, but unfortunately, I don't want to give the story away here. You'll have to ask her for more information.
It's heartwarming to see these veterans come together and support one another.
Great tales from our Armed Forces Veterans.
We met Linda and David and had dinner with them several times. They live in Tehachapi, California and are a load of fun to be with!
Dessert was to die for!
They stuffed us to the gills!
After a lovely dinner, Mary and I took a leisurely stroll along the promenade. We enjoyed the peaceful sounds of the ocean waves crashing against the shore. Later, we headed back to our cozy cabin and put on a movie.
My partner in crime dozed off, so I let her rest for a while before gently waking her up. The fresh ocean air filled our room as we slept with the sliding glass doors wide open every night. It was the perfect way to end each day.
