Day Two (Saturday 1/13/2024) - She Studied And I Rested!
The sun came up and so did Mary; she was ready to go at 6:15 am putting all the chickens to shame. Hat in hand and daily guide in her purse, off she went leaving me in the dust!
I pointed the camera out the window to look for the "ocean view". We been robbed!
It looked like Halloween out there!
I studied the beach rules before going down stairs.
One more peak outside, yep! We have done been robbed.
The lights are on but nobody is at home.
Sunrise causes magic to occur if you walk down the hallway about 300 feet and look east!
We can see the sea!
I sent her on her way!
I went for a stroll around the property before deciding on where to have breakfast.
The grounds are amazing?
It was a fair walk to the lobby but we did have a view!
Ah ha! Civilization, a bar.
The buffet was very good and they had everything one could ask for.
Even the plumb was locally grown!
The patio was airy and the breeze was perfect.
The birdies were having a field day picking up scraps from the tables and floors.
Like a flock of buzzards!
Just over the rail was the cement pond!
Plenty of protein here! The omelet was out of this world!
I ordered the second one and here is what I got!
Birdies like protein also!
I departed for the room after a short walk around the grounds.
A stroll around the lobby and the statues caught my eye!
I whistled a tune and hoped they would dance!
Mary tried to reproduce the ladies dancing; she hid herself well!
When the 1:00 pm bell rang I came running to greet her and carry her books home.... and stop at the local pub for a refreshment.
I awaited here for her arrival after the last luncheon/class!
She decided to stay for an afternoon session so I returned to the room and got ready for a drive and dinner.
I went to pick Mary up at her school room and after she saw me, she decided to send my home and attend another session. I didn't think I looked that bad.
Hard at work taking notes.
We departed our hotel around 4:00 pm as we had reservations at 5:00 pm up the coast!
Hawaii Route 30, also known as the Honoapiʻilani Highway, is a 35-mile-long road on West Maui, Hawaii. It begins in downtown Wailuku, extending south through Waikapu and Maalaea. The Olowalu Tunnel, located at mile 10.4, is 318 feet long.
BTW, Highway 3000 is the Lahaini By-Pass since the fire last year.
We could smell the smoke from the car!
Traffic was light but it was a Saturday evening.
We arrived at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort And Spa at 4:40pm and had a little time to kill so we walked around until the restaurant opened.
Ta Dah!
Our restaurant was inside the Hyatt Regency.
There was a long entrance way with many shops!
Love the flowers.
Took all my energy to keep from picking an orchid for my lady!
Wait till later when it is lite up!
Mary would not go inside, darn the luck1
A rather catchy entrance to the restaurant; we took the elevator.
I used my time at breakfast yesterday to find a romantic dining arrangement up the coast about an hours drive. Their restaurant matched their advertisement!
The setting was perfect!

We arrived early so we gravitated toward the bar, duh! We could see the neighboring islands from our perch at the bar.
The barkeep wondered why we laughed so much!
Swimming anyone??
We began walking to the dining room and then we met...
Mr. Hollywierd!
Happy as a clam with his glasses on!
We know it was good because there were no prices on the menu! If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
The nets were in place to discourage the local wildlife (non-human)!
She found steak on the menu, all is good!
Oh, and she found wine!
Mary attacked the fillet mignon with a vengeance.
I inhaled a delicious brand of grape juice
"Mary, are you are sure that was wine and NOT apple juice?"
The bread was delicious!
I ordered the S-Car-Go and it was loaded with garlic.
Garlic snails and garlic bread; no vampires this evening!
OK, you may proceed!
Lobster and shrimp; Yummy!
And onion rings!
The sun is setting and we must depart for the hotel.
Lanai in the distance.
Did You Know? - It is the largest privately owned island in the Hawaiian chain. Lanai long contained small fishing villages. In 1854 a group of Mormon elders formed a colony, but it was unsuccessful. Lanai was used primarily for cattle grazing until 1922, when it was purchased by the Dole Corporation for use as a pineapple plantation.
Says it all!
Pilot to Navigator, engage auto-pilot.
I know Mary loves frogs but this is ridiculous!
