Thanksgiving gives us a time to sit back and give thanks to all the wonderful things in our lives. Mary and I have a new life together in a new home and the blessings of dear friends, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids who like to come and visit.
This year we are going to have about twenty folks joining us for dinner and we began planning at Halloween!
We began the event in early November placing orders at the local restaurants/markets... Now all we have to do is heat things up!
All was going well until 12:30 AM the night before when the house went black! I went outside and the entire neighborhood was pitch black, oh dear. The Internet was dead so I went to the iPhone and low and behold, SoCal Edison killed power to 4700 homes in the windy areas of Orange and we were in that shutdown, eventhough we have underground utilities!
Now what?
The show must go on so we called Jan and she had power! "Can we borrow your oven?" and we got a resounding "YES!"
Jan not only cook one of the turkeys she carved the puppy up for us!

Our family arrives right on time, duh, there was food!
No TV today, thank you Edison!
We put Nick and Bob to work moving my large generator
mad running 300 feet of power cords around the house.
Amy and the boys were ready for an adventure!
Old trusty went into real service for the second time in his life!
Bob thought everyone should eat so he is feeding our pet Venus Fly trap!
No Bob, he doesn't want mashed potatoes and gravy on his flies!
Amy patiently awaits the signal to commence eating!
Nick was first to the table!
Irene pitched right in and assisted with everything!
Elbows were flying, the microwaves were ringing like church bells!
Cool as a cucumber she was!
Time to sharpen the utensils
Oh dear, Donna is loose again!
Yeah! Yandied Cams!
The boys are watching carefully for next year they cook!
The sounds of food hitting the plates was deafening!
Amy brought Brussels Sprouts and they were delicious.
The ham seemed to be quite popular!
The cheese plate was decimated quickly!
Go Nick, you are a growing boy!
Amy digs right in!
Bob does the important work, getting wine!
Donna regals us with a story of yesteryear when she came over on the Santa Maria and had the first feast!
Oh dear!
Robin smells the goodies and comes inside!
The kids table??
Welcome Amanda, a friend of Connor!
Seconds are being served!
Food everywhere and we still have an entire breast plus another turkey waiting in the wings!
Dad reads from his diary he kept when he crossed on the Mayflower! Actually he is keeping the boys busy so they cannot see Grandpa do "the olive thing!"
"We need larger olives next year!"
Chowing down!
We were expecting the Branders and Bob Carlson but we will save them
some goodies!
Mary and Robin
are a pair to draw too!
"Whaddaya mean I can have only one piece of pie???" OK,"Why did the cranberry turn red?" "Because he saw the turkey dressing!"
Love is in the air! Whip, whip, hooray.
Six pies lie in wait!
"Pie, who needs pie when we have wine?"
As Bob always says,"Don't make Thanksgiving a cluster-pluck"
Donna explains about "The Big Fish"
The place is spotless!
My Thanksgiving shirt from Mary arrived just in time for next year!
