It Is 2006 Already!
The dirt is looking good after three years of composting!
2006 (MMVI) was a common year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar. It has been designated:
- In the Chinese calendar, beginning on January 29, 2006 is the Year of the Dog. (The next Year of the Dog will begin in the year 2018),
- International Year of Deserts and Desertification by the United Nations General Assembly,
- Year of Mozart, marking the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart,
- Brunel 200, marking the 200th anniversary of the birth of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
Backyard Remodel Complete
Looking good to us!
This year we finally completed the effort on the back yard getting rid of the pink block wall and covering it with stucco which matched the rest of the walls in the yard... yeah! It look a lot better than it did before!
The vegetable beds are now high enough that we can sit on them making it a lot easier to contenttain the contents!
We designed the beds so a roto-tiller can go down the bed at the end of the season and we have water taps located in several places to make watering easier.
In another month, the wall will be hidden by mountains of tomato bushes and other goodies planted along the wall... afternoon heat you know.
I thought it would be nice to check our temperatures in our area (curiosity I guess) so I pulled from the local internet weather station the following..
