Preparing For Golf...The Breakfast Club (Page Five)
We begin the day with Breakfast #1 at the Pancake Cottage! It has been a long standing tradition for Bob and Paul to wake up early... 6:00 AM... and seak out to the local health food establishment.
This year we are getting dressed first...lat year Bob's jammies with the little rabbits on the feet scared the little kids and terrified the waitress. Paul went naked lasy year telling the waiter he was in his Shar-Pei Halloween costume! The Shar-Pei is a breed of dog known for its deep wrinkles and blue-black tongue.
While Joe's satisfied the itch for many years, we now have the Pancake Cottage to terrorize.
Did You Know? - In January 1, 1984, Muriel Willhite purchased The Pancake Cottage and made it THE most successful, popular BREAKFAST and LUNCH venue on Catalina Island.
After Muriel and Lou were married in 1989, their
dedication and contribution to Catalina Island's
economy was enormous. Popular as their restaurant is
known to be, expansion was inevitable.
So, they partnered with The Catalina Island Company to build a larger restaurant where the PREGO formerly stood. This family restaurant was constructed to increase seating over the former Pancake Cottage's size.
The food is served fresh and undeniably delicious! Muriel and Lou, along with their loyal and dedicated staff, have
worked very hard to make their restaurant a pleasurable dining experience.
The Sun just barely brightens the facade of our establishment
Old Sol is still yawning!
Not too bad considering
The place was empty so Bob and I knocked on each door and ran!
We walked to the Pancake Cottage
Population 2
Did you note the operative words on the sign??? (Hint: Full Bar)
Bob studied the menu looking for health food
Tore that part of the menu off!
Paul explained his shirt to everyone!
Bob told the patrons that "Dad is a little weird in the mornings"...
Many of them believed it!...Being the Dad, not weird!
Bob just had to anoy the waiter.... He, with the assistance of a local cat, found a hare in the pancakes!
Everyone is still asleep!
Time to sneak back into bed
It's getting time to wake up and go to breakfast #2 now!
Across from Avalon's golf course and en route to the botanic gardens, this snack bar is nothing fancy (omelets, burgers and such served outdoors), but the authentic Mexican food at lunch is better than expected – especially the tacos. Bonus: full bar.
No Holly, you are NOT 20 years old!
You're getting warmer!
Bill does NOT do math!
Enjoying breakfast #2... The healthy one!
Bob simply had pancakes...again!
Champagne from a plastic cup....shades of things to come!
Donna awaits her meal
She thought it might improve her game..... we knew better!
Bob will share....we hope!
Bob does the chair dance to entertain the group!
Then we spot the bar....
the morning can begin!
Up the stairway to heaven!
The huffing and puffing sound is not the local train engine!
