Did you know? - The Balboa Bay Club & Resort(BBC) is a hotel in Newport Beach, California, United States on 15 acres (61,000 m2) and was founded in 1948 as a private beach club. For many years it had a public board of directors and many Newport Beach Residents served on the board.
It is on the Newport Harbor waterfront. The BBC was originally a private club that over the last few years evolved into the public hotel and resort.
The Balboa Bay Club is located on Pacific Coast Highway in what is considered to be central Newport Beach. The Balboa Bay Club location includes rental apartments and condo's as well as one of the larger boat slip marinas in Newport Harbor. The club for many years was known for its sanctioned events and celebrity visitors.

Did you know? - The earliest mention of ravioli appear in the writings of Francesco di Marco, a merchant of Prato in the 14th century In Venice, the mid-14th century manuscript Libro per cuoco offers ravioli of green herbs blanched and minced, mixed with beaten egg and fresh cheese, simmered in broth, a recipe that would be familiar today save for its medieval powdering of "sweet and strong spices".
In Tuscany, some of the earliest mentions of the dish come from the personal letters of Francesco di Marco Datini, a merchant of Prato in the 14th century. In Rome, ravioli were already well-known when Bartolomeo Scappi served them with boiled chicken to the papal conclave of 1549. Ravioli were already known in 14th century England, appearing in the Anglo-Norman vellum manuscript Forme of Cury under the name of rauioles.
Sicilian ravioli and Malta's ravjul may thus be older than North Italian ones. Maltese ravjul are stuffed with rikotta, the locally produced sheep's-milk ricotta, or with gbejna, the traditional fresh sheep's-milk cheese.

The Show Begins
Did you know? - The Laguna Community Concert Band is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization of over 60 members from Laguna Beach and surrounding communities under the direction of Dr. Bill Nicholls, Ed Peterson and Pete Fournier. The Concert Band plays a wide variety of music from marches and classics to holiday music, Swing, Jazz, Big Band and Dixieland. Subsets of the band have formed including: The Bolling League (small jazz ensemble), Brass Ensemble, Third Street Strutters (Dixieland band), Laguna Flutes and the popular Swing Set and Laguna Swing Society.
The Band performs in and around Laguna Beach with regular summer dates at the Festival of the Arts, Sawdust Festival, Art-A-Fair and at celebrations, civic functions and parades in Laguna Beach and surrounding communities. The beautiful Artists Theater at Laguna Beach High School serves as the band's home concert hall.

Monroe was born in the Los Angeles County Hospital on June 1, 1926, as Norma Jeane Mortenson (soon after changed to Baker), the third child born to Gladys Pearl Baker, née Monroe (1902–1984).
Marilyn Monroe (June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962), born Norma Jeane Mortenson, but baptized Norma Jeane Baker, was an American actress, singer and model. After spending much of her childhood in foster homes, Monroe began a career as a model, which led to a film contract in 1946. Her early film appearances were minor, but her performances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve (both 1950) were well received. By 1953, Monroe had progressed to leading roles. Her "dumb blonde" persona was used to comedic effect in such films as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) and The Seven Year Itch (1955). Limited by typecasting, Monroe studied at the Actors Studio to broaden her range, and her dramatic performance in Bus Stop (1956) was hailed by critics. Her production company, Marilyn Monroe Productions, released The Prince and the Showgirl (1957), for which she received a BAFTA Award nomination, and she received a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Some Like It Hot (1959).
The final years of Monroe's life were marked by illness, personal problems, and a reputation for being unreliable and difficult to work with. The circumstances of her death, from an overdose of barbiturates, have been the subject of conjecture. Though officially classified as a "probable suicide," the possibility of an accidental overdose, as well as the possibility of homicide, have not been ruled out. She's Back As Keely Smith
Did you know? - Keely Smith (born Dorothy Jacqueline Keely, March 9, 1932), is an American jazz and popular music singer who enjoyed popularity in the 1950s and 1960s. She collaborated with, among other, Louis Prima and Frank Sinatra.
Smith made her professional debut with Louis Prima in 1949 (the couple were married in 1953); Smith played the "straight guy" in the duo to Prima's wild antics and they recorded many duets. These include Johnny Mercer's and Harold Arlen's "That Ol' Black Magic", which was a Top 20 hit in the US in 1958. In 1959, Smith and Prima were awarded the first-ever Grammy Award for Best Performance by a Vocal Group or Chorus for "That Ol' Black Magic". Her "dead-pan" act was a hit with fans. The duo followed up with the minor successes "I've Got You Under My Skin" and "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen", a revival of the 1937 Andrews Sisters hit. Smith and Prima's act was a mainstay of the Las Vegas lounge scene for much of the 1950s.
Smith appeared with Prima in the 1959 film, Hey Boy! Hey Girl!, singing "Fever", and also appeared in and sang on the soundtrack of the previous year's Thunder Road. Her song in Thunder Road was "Whippoorwill". Her first big solo hit was "I Wish You Love". In 1961, Smith divorced Prima. She then signed with Reprise Records, where her musical director was Nelson Riddle. In 1965, she had Top 20 hits in the UK with an album of Beatles compositions, and a single, "You're Breaking My Heart". Sadly, her Reprise recordings have never been made available on CD

Liza Minnelli Returns
Liza May Minnelli (born March 12, 1946) is an American singer and actress. She is the daughter of entertainer Judy Garland and film director Vincente Minnelli.
Already established as a nightclub singer and a musical theatre actress, she first attracted critical acclaim for her dramatic performances in the movies The Sterile Cuckoo (1969) and Tell Me That You Love Me, Junkie Moon (1970). Minnelli rose to international stardom for her appearance as Sally Bowles in the 1972 film version of the Broadway musical Cabaret, a role that brought her the Academy Award for Best Actress.
Liza Minnelli was born in Hollywood, California to Vincent Minnelli and Judy Garland. Born into a family well known to film-goers, Minneola's maternal lineage can claim entertainers going back six generations. Her mother, Judy Garland, had legendary success in film and in music, but started in show-business as part of a vaudeville act with Minneola's aunts as "The Gum Sisters". Her father, an acclaimed MGM film director, was from a theatrical family which also included circus performers.
Minnelli attended New York City's Farrell H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. Her first performing experience on film was at age three where she appeared in the final scene of the 1949 musical In the Good Old Summertime. The film starred Judy Garland and Van Johnson. Although Minnelli and her mother shared a warm personal relationship, during her performances with her mother at the London Palladium, Garland recognized Minneola's talent and felt a sense of competition. Minnelli recalled, "I was onstage with my mother, but suddenly, she wasn't Mama ... she was Judy Garland."
