Christmas Dinner (Page One)
To The Beginning
December 25th 2017 - Last Updated: 10/21/2024 22:21:PM
We are celebrating Christmas at Panda Inn again this year. Our movie is playing (A Christmas Story), we have the entire bar area, and the food and service was excellent.
Zack, Becca, and Lilly stopped by for a few minutes to assure the TV/DVD Player were up to snuff! Lilly was soooooo excited about her bunk-beds she decided to tell us "I sleep in the top AND the bottom".
We sure missed Mike & Bridgette plus Robin, Bob, and Nick today but they had family celebrations to go to!
"...and, Great Grandma, Logan can sleep in my bunk bed also!"
A beautiful couple... We are proud of our grandkids!!

Did You Know? - The Chinese word for apple sounds very much like the word for "peace." As a result, a lovely tradition has developed of exchanging apples wrapped in colored paper. The apples are eaten on Christmas Eve because in Chinese the word for "Christmas Eve" means peaceful or quiet evening (from the traditional carol Silent Night).
Miss Amy and Joe... Grandsons Charlie and Alex
are busy with their Christmas gifts!
Always a beautiful smile and a kind word...
The Lyrics To "Once In Love With Amy":
Once in love with Amy
Always in love with Amy
Ever and ever fascinated by her
Sets your heart on fire to stay
Once you're kissed by Amy
Tear up your list it's Amy
Ply her with bonbons poetry and flowers
Moon a million hours away
You might be quite the fickle hearted rover
So carefree and bold
Who loves a girl and later thinks it over
And just quits cold
But once in love with Amy
Always in love with Amy
Ever and ever sweetly you'll romance her
Trouble is the answer will be
That Amy would rather stay in love with me
You might be quite the fickle hearted rover
So carefree and bold
Who loves a girl and later thinks it over
And just quits cold
But once in love with Amy
Always in love with Amy
Ever and ever sweetly you'll romance her
Trouble is the answer will be
That Amy would rather stay in love with me
Joe all dressed up in Christmas Red!
We knew we were taking a big chance when we sent
Brian to sit on Santa's lap but what the heck!
The movie is well underway!
Donna, Bob, Brian, Hans, Kerstin, and Jan
Checking to see if the movie is the same as last year
One of Hans and Brian's favorite part of the movie!
The guys seem to be studying the movie intently all of a sudden
The wine be flowing... The smiles be smiling
Alex is NOW thinking about sneezing!
P-s-s-s-s-s-t You don't have to be good right now,
Santa is in Hawaii resting!
Paul tells the story using sign language!
Caught!
Amy looks a little worried....
Dad picks out the stickers
Margo and Pat taking it all in!
We have our own special elf
I think we should call him Leon.... Oops! That name has been taken
Leon would make an excellent model!
"Boy am I in trouble!"
Decisions decisions!
Who has the first-aid kit handy?
Brian likes his first official Christmas shirt!
"Hey Hans....

Did You Know? - Little Orphan Annie is a daily American comic strip created by Harold Gray and syndicated by the Tribune Media Services. The strip took its name from the 1885 poem "Little Orphant Annie" by James Whitcomb Riley, and made its debut on August 5, 1924, in the New York Daily News.
The plot follows the wide-ranging adventures of Annie, her dog Sandy and her benefactor Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks. Secondary characters include Punjab, the Asp and Mr. Am. The strip attracted adult readers with political commentary that targeted (among other things) organized labor, the New Deal and communism.
Following Gray's death in 1968, several artists drew the strip and, for a time, "classic" strips were reruns. The strip's popularity declined over the years; it was running in only 20 newspapers when it was cancelled on June 13, 2010.
Loads of laughs going on here... They know the decoder ring story!
The movie seems to be captivating
Did You Know? - According to Bob Clark and the Daisy Rifle historians on the documentary on the history of the Red Ryder BB Gun on the Special Edition DVD, the model rifle as described by Ralphie in the film is a mistake.
When Jean Shepard originally wrote the story of Ralphie and his gun for the story "In God We Trust... All Others Pay Cash", he had written about the gun based on his childhood experiences but had mis-remembered the details of the Red Ryder BB Gun.
Specifically, the weapon did not have a compass or "This thing which tells time" (As Ralphie refers to the sundial). Those features were a part of another BB Gun model made around the same time.
According to Clark, no one realized this mistake until it came time to produce the gun for the film and they were informed by the Daisy Rifle Company of the error. So the gun in the film is actually a custom made hybrid to match Sheppard's recollections.
