A cappella (Italian for "in the manner of the chapel") music is specifically group or solo singing without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. It contrasts with cantata, which is usually accompanied singing. The term "a cappella" was originally intended to differentiate between Renaissance polyphony and Baroque concertato style. In the 19th century a renewed interest in Renaissance polyphony coupled with an ignorance of the fact that vocal parts were often doubled by instrumentalists led to the term coming to mean unaccompanied vocal music.
"The Alley Cats"
The group originated in 1987, when a doo-wop revival program was occurring at Fullerton College. Two men, also the group's future founding fathers, Mando Fonseca and Royce "The Voice" Reynolds, decided to start an a cappella group. Two additional members along the way, Todd Dixon and Andre Peek, materialized and the foursome gained notice. Since then The Alley Cats have performed for many audiences, ranging from elementary school fun nights to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as well as opening for Leno at his Las Vegas shows. The Alley Cats's sound has been heard as well at The White House.

Did You Know? - The Reyn Spooner name - where'd it come from?
Reynolds McCullough (known to everyone as Reyn) grew up in California on Catalina Island. When he came home from service after WW II, he began working at a men’s shop in Avalon on Catalina Island. Reyn proved to have a keen eye for fashion and marketing; so in 1949, he bought his employer’s shop and renamed it Reyn’s Men’s Wear. Eventually he ran six stores in California, and was known for always carrying exceptional men’s resort clothing and sportswear. On his first trip to Hawaii in 1957, Reyn was captivated by life in the Hawaiian islands. He also saw an opportunity as jumbo jets made tourism possible and statehood was imminent. A year later, Reyn moved his family to Honolulu, and when Ala Moana Shopping Center in Honolulu (the largest in the US at the time), opened in 1959, Reyn’s Men’s Wear was one of the first shops to open its doors.
Within a few years, the growth of Reyn's Ala Moana Center in Waikiki, and his other new Hawaii locations, convinced him to sell his Catalina business and concentrate his focus in the Mid-Pacific.
Enter Ruth Spooner who, in 1956 had established Spooners of Waikiki, and, with her one sewing machine operation on Waikiki Beach, was cultivating a reputation for the best 'kine' custom surf trunks in the islands. She made swimwear and shirts that Reyn designed, eventually selling him her business in 1962. Reyn set up four sewing machines in the basement of his Ala Moana store, and merging the two company names, Reyn Spooner® was born.

Did You Know? - Hard soda, also referred to as flavored beer, is a type of alcoholic beverage and craft beer that is manufactured in the style of a soft drink.
It has gained recent prominence in the United States after the success of the Not Your Father's Root Beer brand manufactured by Small Town Brewery. As of late May 2016, at least 39 hard soda brands exist in the United States.
As of late May 2016, the hard soda category comprises over 1 percent of total overall beer category sales in the United States. In the U.S., many new hard soda brands have emerged beginning around early December 2015 and numbered to at least 39 brands by late May 2016.
One of them is the Best Damn Root Beer brand manufactured by Anheuser-Busch InBev, which was the second best-selling brand in May 2016 after Not Your Father's Root Beer, which realized double the overall sales compared to that of Best Damn Root Beer circa this time period.
Anheuser-Busch InBev also produces the Best Damn Cherry Cola brand product.
The Henry's Hard Orange and Henry's Hard Ginger Ale hard soda brands are produced by MillerCoors, and brands produced by the Boston Beer Company include Hard Ginger Ale, Hard Orange Cream ale and Coney Island Brewing Hard Root Beer.
