Day 7 - Ensenada Mexico And Wine Country
As reported in the Daily Diary!
No Papa's And Beer this time; we are serious! We caught the bus to wine country which is 30 minutes outside of Ensenada on beautiful clean buses. It could have been worse and been the Tijauani Taxi!
The weather was a little threatening when we arrived.
Ensenada in the distance around 5:30 am.
The seagulls and seals greeted us with their melodic sounds!
One more turn to port and we will be docking.
Mary attempts communication with the wild life!
NO, not this wildlife!
It started to rain as we boarded the bus; everyone welcomed the rain!
Mary is wrapped up and waterproof!
Did You Know? - In the old days it was a real adventure to find Doña Lupe's vineyard and organic farm way off the beaten path. Heading to Tecate from the coast, Highway 3 was a narrow two lane road. Back then a traveler would leave the main road to take a long dusty washboard, skirting the lands of the Kumiai Indians. The road wound its way past the well-known LA Cetto, Baja's largest winery.
In 1968 Lupe's husband purchased the land, but unfortunately died before their dream began. With her love of the land and her commitment to nature and natural grown things, she began to create what would become a very popular destination. Long before it became fashionable, she was an early leader in the organic movement.
Lupe had no plans to expand, but with the sudden explosion of interest in Baja wines and increased development, tours began to pour into the valley. Lupe is now in her 80s and the homestead has become a thriving tourist attraction. A welcome sign is posted in seven different languages.
"Bring on the wine!"
We tried all four; we are partial to whites.
Large tables allowed us to have a Mexican pizza along with the vino!
The shelves were full of goodies!
It was raining outside.
The bus backed all the way into the driveway!
The pizza was excellent.
After lunch we drobve about three miles to the LA Cetto winery and did some additional tasting.
We will take two of these!
They had plenty on hand!
MAry and I almost bought this Christmas Tree!
"Wrap it up!"
The kids enjoy the red wines!
Everything was a little wet!

Leave it to Nick to find the secret spot!
Our ship is on the right in the distance.
The bus was nice and cozy!
We raced off the buss and in an area where we could get a picture.
They look pretty good!
"Let's get on board, it is time to eat again!!"
Mary found a trash bag, she is good to go!
We had a wabbit in our room when we got back!
We had a drink before dinner!
Green is the order of the day!
Even the old man had green on today!
"Oh my!!"
"I can't repeat what she said!!"
Our resident photographer is ready to go!
Just us!
Wish Colleen, Becky, and Joe were here!!
I finally got my sushi!
You will never guess what this is!
