Up The Coast/Down The Coast!
We got an invite from Robin and Bob (and Nick) to join them on a seven day cruise up and down the coast of California over the Thanksgiving Holiday! This seems like a good idea since we do not have to make a big effort at Thanksgiving and we get time with the kids! Were are in!
Day 1 - Departing San Diego - We took the Van so we could all be together and headed south. We boarded and quickly found our staterooms. Maggie, Robin's kindergarten friend, and her cousin joined us.
Day 2 - Catalina Island - The ship landed at Catalina early the next morning and we stayed on board having been there many times. We hit the magnificent thermal spa. We then found this thing called a "bar" where nice young people would make us drinks!
Day 3 - Off To San Fransisco. We set sail early in the morning for San Francisco and sailed the bounding main all day and still had another day to go! We went to the thermal spa, walked a mile, danced, got dressed up, and even went to the movie at the pool late in the evening.
Day 4 - Sailing To San Francisco And Arriving At 6:00 PM - We sailed all day long finally arriving at the Golden Gate Bridge just before sunset. We scooted under the bridge and landed near the Embarcadero where some people went sightseeing. We stayed on board.
Day 5 - Wine Tasting In Sonoma. We took a bus to two wineries and enjoyed a lunch on shore near the Sonoma City Hall.
Day 6 - We Sailed South Toward Endenada, Mexico. We had another sea day which means time to play. Mary, Robin and Nick went to an art class. Bob and Paul went to a lecture on Marconi. Of course we visited the thermal spa. It was also Thanksgiving and we had Italian food with pumpkin pie!
Day 7 - Ensenada Wine Tasting. In a bit of rain, we jumped on a bus and headed out of town to the wine area where we visited two nice wineries and enjoyed a Mexican Pizza on the way. We returned to the ship and had dinner in the main dining room before packing up to depart the next morning.
Day 0.8 - We landed at San Diego at 7:00 AM We got off the ship and headed home by 10:30 AM. We laughed and giggled about the events of the last week all the way home.

See the brochure! - All is accurate except that Santa Barbara and Monterey were skipped as it was the Thanksgiving Day week and those cities were already filled up with visitors so we sailed and stayed in San Franscisco a second day instead.
We had a great suite entited the "Neptune Suite" which gave us special access to parts of the ship plus some priorities. We just wanted a nice veranda so watch the world go by!
We had plenty of room and had many visitors.
